    Bond Arms Derringer - 45LC

I just purchased a Bond Arms Derringer 45LC - California Compliant. Can the California Compliant Derringer Barrels be removed and changed (interchanged) to different calibers (i.e. 9mm, 45, 357, etc.) like the non-California compliant derringers? Or are we stuck with what we have? Also, if we can buy additional barrels, where can they be found?
    Thanks

They can be changed, but they are Ca specific barrels. Bond has discontinued all the Ca models according to their web site. It does not look like they have barrels available any longer.

I know, but where can you find California Specific Barrels? I don't see them anywhere.

You'll need to keep an eye on the auction sites. Since Bond Arms has discontinued the CA model it's going to be pretty hard to get stuff for them.

        Enjoy your .45LC derringer.
        Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

I have the non-CA Bond and when trying to get barrels a few years back from Bond they wouldn't ship them to CA. This was well before Bond entered the CA market, so I doubt there were concerns a "non-CA" barrel could be fitted to a "CA OK" derringer. Of course buying off EBay or GB would ship to CA.

I'd be curious to know if a non-CA barrel can be attached to a "CA OK" frame. Considering how manufacturing works I'd be surprised if the company made dramatic and permanent changes to the design of either barrel or frame.

The below statement is on the Bond Arms website.
All California legal handguns have specific CA legal barrels to use all of your favorite calibers with just 6 turns of a screw. Please note that the CA barrels will only fit the CA handguns, and the standard barrels will not fit the CA handguns.

If the above was incorrect, I would think there would be a lawsuit.

The above may be true. I'm certain as bought from the factory a non-CA barrel won't fit a CA OK Bond derringer. My question was along the lines of how they are different, frame or barrel, and can they be altered.

I couldn't find anything about modifying their barrels to work with other frames.

I did find this on their site though:

Well now you and I both know that is not true. If it's possible to convert it to accept a 410 barrel it would be legal to convert it. Now actually getting a 410 barrel and putting it on your CA model is a completely different story.

But their thoughts on what is legal and what is not legal brings me to this statement I found on their website:

(Except California guns only accept California barrels)

So, since you have a 49 state model you should check out these barrels on eBay or you could have a middle man FFL; like audiophil2, order what ever you want brand new from Bond Arms.

I have the 410 barrel, it's at my other home in Oregon. With 3" 00 buckshot shells the damn thing hurts like hell. Not quite as bad as their (short lived) 3" 44 Magnum barrel, but close enough. YouTube has some fellow shooting skeet with the darn thing.

Getting barrels isn't the challenge, I was more interested in how someone without the "49 state" Bond might be able to modify and use regular barrels. One of the side effects of living in CA for so long - can't have it, so we try to figure out a work around.

Well, sounds like you and the OP should get together and compare barrels and frames to see what it would take to get a 49 state barrel to fit a CA frame.
