I thought about buying a storm last year, and bear in mind I've owned my P226 for well over a few years at this point. I fondled the storm at a local dealer it only felt "ok" in my hands. The pistol was solid and felt well built, but there was just something about it that failed to stir any emotion with me. Your experience may be different. I would try renting them at a local range and see which one speaks to you the most. My P226 has been flawless with any type ammo, problem free, and extremely accurate.

I love both companies but until you try both it's a hard choice.

When I first shot the 226 it was off about 1/2 inch to a inch to the left, POI then I realized that I was rotating my wrist a hair. After the 2nd or 3rd mag it was dead on. Loved the weight and balance.

But it has a few things I don't like. Slide release is really small and sometimes needs to be broken in. Or you can sling shot it which I hate and shouldn't have to do. Plus the position of it is at the rear of the slide is ackward.

Re-cocking the hammer to SA mode is a pain compared to a beretta. Why is it so pointed and not rounded off?

The biggest problem is the ridiculous prices Sig go for right now. The lowest I could find was 860 all the way up to 925 no night sights for a 226. Unless this is your primary go to gun out of any gun you can choose from that's way too much money. And don't forget how now Sig is sticking it to their customers with only 1 magazine included. Real smart idea their.

I can assure you the Beretta any model will be in the 600-700 dollar range easily, and be just as reliable and accurate as a Sig. I never really noticed the difference between triggers, that just I can nail the target no matter what gun it is.

Getting kind of tired how people claim that the Sig is the most accurate compared to what ever gun. My Beretta 92 since I have so much trigger time on one since I was 10 can still hit the bulls eye at 15 yards plus in SA, no bench rest the size of a dime or smaller. It depends on the shooter.

We are not comparing a Sig vs say a high point or Ruger.

The Sig will have better accuracy, reliability, and (in my opinion) pointability.

The Beretta will be a little less in all departments, but with a lower cost. I am not a fan of the rotating action, and ended up selling my Beretta (first handgun) when I happened upon the Sig P226.

Go to a store and figure out which one fits you best, and which trigger you like better, and buy it. If the Sig fits and feels better, then it's worth the extra dosh. If it doesn't, then be happy knowing that you can buy some extra ammo by buying the Beretta instead.

One other consideration - check out the CZ SP-01 and 75B. They are also excellent first-pistols, and, with a little work, can be made to be awesome shooters. I'd recommend the CZ over the Beretta.

I'd recommend a Taurus over a Beretta.

well said! i just don't understand all the hype on sigs & glocks. i would pick a baby eagle over those two choices. a nice gun to shoot. feels good in the hands.

I just got my first Sig p226 9mm, I traded my glock for it. I really like the Sig cuz it's a heavier pistol and just feels very very solid..

Why storm? Why are you compare the best Sig with the worst (most bashful) Beretta? Have you give Beretta 92/m9 a try? With that two I'll say it will be an interesting race, but 226 vs Storm? Get the Sig.



PS: Given the recent business decision Sig making (one mag only for all new hand gun). I no refuse to buy any more new Sig. Try find a used Sig or try Beretta 92, or CZ 75 is a wonderful machine.
