    Handgun registration question

I have a handgun that I purchased in 1977 at a gun show. The sale did not go through a dealer and did not need to at the time. I paid for it and walked out the door. The gun show was in California. I was a California resident at the time of the purchase and have been a California resident ever since.

What is my status with this handgun now in 2009. Is there something I need to do?

Keep it that way, but if you do sell it must go through an FFL.

Most of us wish we had more guns that weren't registered. Its none of the governments friggin' business what I own. The best guns to have are the ones nobody knows you have.

You are not required to do anything. However, be aware that if you should be caught carrying it illegally, it is a felony enhancement for it not being registered.

Not true 12025b6 12031a2f doesn't apply to firearms sold prior to the dros requirement. A trace through atf would confirm it was sold prior to the date.
