    Night sight replacement 4506-1

I have a new to me 4506-1, serial VMM77XX. I believe it has Novak cut tritium sights. They are not at all bright and essentially useless. I've seen a bunch of contradictory info online but I know there's a ton of knowledge here.

This was originally a LAPD special order pistol. Any suggestions?

I have a 4506 i bought 20 years ago and am going to get it tuned up with all new springs My question is my model has the adjustable rear sights and trying to find good night sights to fit is almost unbearable and i need some help. It has the basic Trijicon night sights but my old peepers dont...

Fishslayer just asked that the other day on the S&W forums lol
mine are bone stock so I'm no help.
Found this in the consignment case at my local range. Price was too good to pass up. What choice did I have? :D New Hogues are on order. The sights are toast. I'd like to put a set of TFOs on it. Anybody know of a set that will work. Any other recommendations? I understand they are standard...

                  Novak cut, previous (dead) nights.

You should be able to send back to S&W to get new ones with new tritium. I say should because my buddy just sent his 1006 back for new bright nights, but who know what stock S&W still carries for 3rd gens.

I didn't know GMan (and Red) had ones, too!!!

                  I've got S&W envy

I have been told that the attached company used to replace the tritium vials on old sights. I cannot vouch for them as I have never used them....

I'm replacing mine with Trijicons. Having zero luck getting the old rear off. It has a major ding on the right side which tells me somebody MAY have had a rough time getting it installed.

Sight pusher.... no budge. Hammer & punch... no budge. I'm not being gentle, either. I don't care if I destroy the sight.

It's soaking in Kroil. If that doesn't work out comes the Dremel.

3rd gen rear sights are notoriously hard to move. Destroyed a brass punch trying to adjust one on a 5906. Never did get it to move.

Fishslayer: FYI, you're aware of this. Under the rear sight there are two plungers under spring pressure - I think one is for the mag discon, don't remember what the other one does. Don't let them go flying when you get it moved off the slide.
