hk elite or expert, yet another thread

I am going to buy a HK in .45acp

I have been thinking of buying a expert because I know when I move out of CA, I can get a threaded barrel for it and get a suppressor for it. But can't find a expert right now and I have found a few elite's.

The Elite is not as good looking but its not ugly (to me at least) so I am thinking of getting one. I ASSuME one can't get a threaded barrel for the Elite once I move out of CA, is that right ? I can't find one. I did find that in Europe, there are Elite to Expert conversion kits available, I don't know their price but I go to France twice a year and will check next time.

I was going to make the expert my HD gun with a light and replace my MK25 Sig with the HK, I just want to make a .45 caliber hole instead of a 9mm. I can do the same with the Elite but that is why I was thinking ahead of getting a suppressor for HD in the house use. I will of course take it shooting often, I go about twice a month and rotate all my guns into the mix.

Any reason I should not get the Elite and wait for a Expert to show up ? I was hoping to have by Thanksgving weekend but waited too long already for that, so my next target is my bday in early December.

If I could find a HK45 I would try that also, although I have not fired one. Oh, and it has to be easy to get locally, I can't go traveling around the state to pick it up, wifey will not know about this purchase.

1/ Why don't you wait until you move out of CA then buy whatever you want.
2/ I had HK USP Elite and that is the most accurate .45ACP pistol I have (I have couple 1911 but none of them more than $2K).
3/ Next year June 7 to July 7 we will be in France to see the Woman World Cup. Already bought tickets for all games in Paris and Reims, will buy tickets for all games that USA play.
PM me where to go to look for "toys" in France, our base will be in Paris but we will travel follow the USA teams.

I am a fan of LA Galaxy and whoever play LAFC.

My advice is to wait for what you truly want; half the fun is the hunt and not compromising on what you want. Keeping secrets from the wife.....well that is beyond the scope of my expertise; suffice it to say......pretty much all of my pistols are black and look alike in the safe. LOL

I felt the same way, I liked the Expert's looks more but liked them both. Now I just have one left to buy If you like the Expert, find one.

I was just thinking the same thing this afternoon, went with the Expert. Last three days, USPC45, HK45C, and Expert 45

Well, if you are dumping the Mk25 and want an H&K made, 45ACP that can be suppressed, the only logical answer is buying an HK45C ( or CT ) once you are out of state...

I have both the Elite and the Expert. Adding a can to either would make for a really long handgun; may as well just run a carbine at that point.

I just moved to Oregon like a month ago, as soon as I get my Oregon drivers license, I am buying the suppressor first its a 7-9 month wait for the tax stamp, then I am either getting the USP 45 Tactical or the HK45 Tactical, both already have suppressor height sights and the threaded barrel, otherwise you are looking at roughly another $300 to add those two items.

I shoot them equally well but I prefer the Expert because I think it looks better.

I had an elite, but traded it away. The expert is a better looking gun.

^ Streamlight actually makes a light for H&K's proprietary rail. It's not too expensive either.

I have one on my Expert. Not much to look at, but it fits fine with no additional rail adapters and it is bright enough. My main HD gun (at least where I sleep) has a TLR-4 and the light is similar. Worth the price.

They have the full rail for the TLR-4 green laser too.
