    9mm gun, G19 or SP01/P01 or P2000?

Already have 2 1911's in .45. Could do a 1911 in 9mm, but I want a bit of variety . Have been a bigger fan of steel guns, aluminum is ok, but I'm warming up to polymer.

Looking for a 9mm, and I've come down to these 3/4 guns.

The SP01 seems best, with the P01 being the in-between, but for some reason, the G19 seems like the smarter choice because of the track record and aftermarket, but the P2000 looks like a perfect development from the USP9.

The P2000 is at the very top of the budget for this gun. A Sig P226/229 is a bit too much.

What do you guys think? I haven't read much into the P2000, but it doesn't seem as popular.

What do you want it to do? What is your purpose?

Target practice, Self Defense, Competition, CCW...

The trigger is going to make a big difference in performance. Striker fired vs hammer fired SAO to DA/SA....really depends on purpose and personal preference.

G19 is probably the best for all purposes but an SP01 is a sweet shooter. P01 is light enough to be a "metal" compact that isn't too cumbersome and has a Decocker.

Bottom line if you're gonna carry it OWB, I'd go 1911 or Sp01, if you're going to carry IWB go polymer.

S&W sd9ve and lots of ammo after a few hundred rounds trigger smooths out it is still a little heavy but you can train through it. Add apex springs for $20 an inexpensive upgrade.

Do you want to stick to manual safety, or switch to decocker, or switch to striker-fired?

What size gun are you looking for?

The SP01 in California is safety-only. The P01 is compact, aluminum-framed, and has a decocker. The P2000 is compact/subcompact (P2000K) and has a decocker. The Glock 19 is polymer and striker-fired.

Since you're coming from shooting 1911s I think you will have trigger preferences. CZ single action might not feel right until you get a match hammer (and even then the sear contact points might need to be smoothed out). Glock triggers are... Glock triggers. Mushy and not that great, but certainly workable and serviceable.

This. The 19 for an all-purpose gun. SP-01 for a range toy.

G19 is a very sensible, reliable pistol to add to your collection. The newer generations are more desirable but will cost you more. Gen 5 is best of the model and is better all around. Better ergos, decent trigger out of the box, etc.

I own an SP01 as well and it is a very nice shooter but I am not at all impressed with the trigger.

Glock 17. P2000 if you want a terrible trigger.

CZ SP-01/P-01, since they have a similar grip angle as 1911's. It'll be a smooth transition.

                    Glock if you're basic.

Either CZ is good, SP01 if you want a safety, P01 if you want a decocker

From a purely shooting experience standpoint, the SP-01 will be the most similar to your 1911. Do you want something similar or different? The G19 is the most different, the P2000 is much more similar to the G19, especially coming from 1911s.

Since these are on roster models, it shouldn't be too hard to find a range that rents all three.

                          People actually buy the P2000?
Isn't that the red-headed stepchild in HK's lineup?

I had a P2000 DA/SA and actually really liked it. I'm thinking of getting another one. Its like a hammerfired Glock 19. Trigger didnt bother me at all. Best kept secret.
