Dumb Question

I once left a Ruger GP100 in a holster inside my vehicle for over a week. The gun was used as my hip gun during the hunting season in northern Maine. I drew the pistol a few times during the hunt being tempted by some big fat squirrels teasing me from a nearby tree. I don’t remember the gun or holster getting wet, but by the time I remembered to retrieve the revolver from my vehicle it had rust spots developing all over the frame and barrel. That taught me a good lesson to wipe down my blued guns after a day of hunting. Stainless steel guns are not immune to rust either.

While some people get away with it, the general rule of thumb is don't. It might work out for you, but if it doesn't, you've got a corroded/pitted gun and there's no going back from that. Better safe than sorry.

Or, if you don't care about the finish, you have your answer.

I don't store any gun in a leather holster, but that's just my preference.
Looks like opinions vary.
So, at this point why take a chance if the possibility exists? I personally don't think it's worth it.

I leave my Beretta 92 Inox in it's leather holster 100% of the time, except when I'm cleaning or shooting it. No problems.

I like keeping it in the holster because it makes the leather really conform nicely to the pistol. Ain't nothin' like a leather holster that's had 2 years worth of pistol inside it!

My grandmother and Grandfather left their guns Holstered for 40 years after San Francisco stopped Issuing CCW . The Brass Handle on my Grandmothers 4 shot Derringer Turned Green but Polished up Gorgeous. The ammo Was Corroded to the point of prying it out . Also green My Grandfathers Colt Showed No sign of wear at all . this is in Pacifica. In a Dresser drawer.

It's a Falco black leather holster, they're made in Eastern Europe somewhere probably by underpaid and starved children, but it's a great product for the price! And they were one of the few who could make one for Brigadier model. Very happy with it, would/will buy more from them in the future.

I store my guns in leather holsters. I just make sure to clean and lube them first.
