Will you work on a Norinco? I'm not sure if tool wear etc. would be an issue due to the hardness of the steel used.

Norinco frames and slides are very good the internals are not. They make a very good starting platform for a full build.

        Thanks.
Even with the Professional, there are a few MIM parts according to this article.

Yes. They do have a very limited number of parts that are MIM. Even then, the process utilized in the MIM process has improved by leaps and bounds.

Totally agree. From what I have read in the recent years, the MIM manufacturing process is very consistent and produces a very strong part. The only downside are the casting marks on the part (but, only if you go looking for them). The stories circulating the net are overblown in my opinion.

The tests/trials for the FBI gun put Springfield against many companies who dropped out and/or could not meet all of the specs (Colt, Wilson, Les Baer etc). One of those of which was going for X rounds without a parts breakage or failure (Too tired to re-read the article). The other was accuracy.

Although I have a Les Baer, a Professional is one of my Grail guns.

            Happy shooting and be safe.

I've got an ORM Colt 1991A1 Compact that I hope will find its way into Brett's shop one day.

Thanks XDJ. I am not concerned with Springfield's present-day MIM parts. I rely on three 1911s fitted with MIM parts: Two Loadeds and an Ultra CDP II. A Pro will be my next 1911...

They're not liberals, they're leftists. Please don't use the former for the latter. Liberals are Locke, Jefferson, Burke, Hayek. Leftists are progressives, Prussian state-socialists, fascists. Liberals stand against the state and unequivocally support liberty. Leftists support state tyranny.

Does this amount of custom rework void or effect Springfield's lifetime warrantee?
