Took the Rock Island .38 out again. Put about another 100 rounds through it. The action is getting better and breaking in nicely. Just a fun .38 to shoot.

I haven't handled 1 up close so please opine.
Sharp edges?
Easy extraction of empties?
DA trigger pull is?
Cylinder lock up loose or tight or?
Grips look wonky, but?
Accuracy @ 7-10 yds?
I have shot a Colt Det/Spcl, so that's my measuring stick.
I'm looking at a hammerless aka "spurless" 206 or an m200 4".Comment

Mine is a hammer model with a 2" barrel, blue, using the plastic grips that came with it. The wooden look nicer but the black plastic grips feel better.
It is not something you can tuck into a pocket or waistband because it has lots of "snag" points, but it is solid. The cylinder locks up nicely, don't have a trigger gauge so I can't say what the pull is, but it doesn't seem too heavy. I didn't have any problem get hits on target. I was shooting some very old wadcutters and they ejected just fine. (Sometimes the cases on those can swell a little, but the M206 ejected them just fine).
Think I paid about $340 out the door but I'm sure it can be found for a lot less elsewhere. I wanted to shop around for it but my kids gave me a $100 gift card from the place I bought it so spending that much minus the $100 didn't hurt as much.
When I was at the NRA Convention this year I stopped by the Rock Island booth. Talked to one of the staff. He told him it's based on the Colt DS. Doesn't look like a DS but the cylinder rotates clockwise. Guess that counts for something?
Overall, I am very pleased with it. Bought it for fun and to have on hand when things go bump in the night.NRA Life Member

Thanx GB!

Ah, I was wondering if it came with both the teardrop-shaped wood grips and the full sized finger-grooved plastic grips. Interesting.
I've handled the 206 at a store; the single-action trigger pull was pretty good and the long hammer makes cocking very easy, the double-action trigger pull was 'meh' at best.
The M206 is a parkerized finished, rough looking six-shooter. All business, not pretty. But considering it's only about seventy bucks more than a High-Point, it's a good value nonetheless.Guns don't kill people, Democrats kill peopleComment

I do see the resemblance. It is just as refined or as expensive.NRA Life Member

Ive seen reviews of the RIA M206 and Im not impressed, it's pretty much a sub standard copy , some have canted sights, unreliable ignition / misfires
people seem to be buying them only because they cant get an original like a COLT
the RIA reminds me of those lower bargain priced pistols like R&G , kind of like the Hi Point of revolvers, not something a true collector or Connoisseur of firearms would buy, more of something a bargain shopper with limited funds might buy.Comment
