Personally I would just shoot it. Or maybe sandblast and then use an oven bake finish like gunkote.

There are several internal combustion engine carbon cleaners on the market. Not sure if that's a good option, but...

Try shooting it a whole bunch to see if you can loosen up the carbon.....

What material is the frame? Aluminum? Steel?

            Oxyclean?

I can't see the finish close enough, but it looks like the finish is porous, and the carbon has settled in the pores. Maybe a soft toothbrush with the oxyclean to help loosen it up.

I love the hard chrome suggestion. @$200, that sounds like a great price. Maybe add $70 for the slide?

I have a couple guns with streamlights mounted to them (which hang past the barrel like the surefire) and that just wipes clean too. Even after a weekend of shooting 2,000 rounds of dirty ammo in 100 degree heat.

The scratch looking dark lines make me think you are either getting through the finish. As in maybe its is holster wear? Or maybe you cleaned the finish off?

I would soak a patch in Hoppes 9 and lay it onto one of the smaller areas with "dirt". Like those spots on the dust cover. Let it sit on there for a few hours, then use the same patch to wipe the area. See if it gets better.

Steel wool will take finish off. Is this a coated gun or stainless?

Earlier Champion and TS were nickel plated I thought. Changed to poly coat. When?

Why wouldn't CZ admit to a bad finish job? They claim user error?

Looks like the same idea as this now discontinued product from Midway, in which case: seconded.

Is the other side the same?

Strip it down and Cerakote it, they should be able to color match the original for you

Try Non-chlorinated brake cleaner or carb cleaner.
