    S&W model 386

I'm interested in this revolver with a 6" barrel and hi-viz front sight. Anyone have one who wants to share his/her thoughts on it?

If I recall it's nothing more than an alloy L frame with a black finish. No longer in production. Probably easier and cheaper due to off roster status to just get a 686. Unless you already have a line on one, might be easier but probably not cheaper.

      It's a scandium frame.

And, I have to agree with you. I'd get a 586/686 in stead of the 386.

But OP if you want one jump on this one and find a dealer who will do the SAE for you.

Check out what I found on GunBroker.com!

      Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Depends on what you like and want. I spent more money to get a 586 because I just don't like stainless finish on my guns.

Thanks for your replies. I already have a 686+. I had never seen a 386XL and when I picked it up, it felt really nice. I was wondering how the lighter scadium alloy feels when shot and how it holds up to moderate .38 loads. It had an interesting heat shield between the underside of the top strap and barrel. I presume it is to prevent flame cutting.
