When I shot it the front sight even started bouncing around. If it wasn't pinned it would fall off. I won't shoot it again till it's worked on. The rear of the slide is solid. The front moves sideways till it comes in contact with the receiver.

HopetownBrown. I appreciate your input. Not a 1911forum fan. If I own a gun it gets shot, goes to classes and ends up on my hip or it's sold. My last 1911 was a Guncrafter Industries and I shouldn't have sold it. By your comments, anyone who owns anything more than a RI is a poser. WC, NH, GI are all a waste of money and only idiots buy them.

You can say the same thing about transportation. Anything more than a VW Beetle is to much while the guy in the Ferrari knows if he has to explain you wouldn't understand.

        Back to the topic.

          Well said.

I'd also suggest calling DW first. Just tell them your concern about the gun. Especially about the slide fitting front to back. Most likely, they will fix it to your liking for free.

Try that and let us know what they said.

          Good luck to you.

I have 10's of thousands of rounds down range from being a student at Front Sight Nevada alone. When I started working there I realized I would never get to shoot again, lol. I do want to start shooting local matches. I always have. I think this gun is on the edge of dangerous till it's checked out. As for DW, this is a 6 year old gun, they ain't changing nothing for free.

When I contacted DW, they gave me a quote not an RMA number, lol.

Hoping someone has experience with them. It looks like a 4 month turnaround. I'm going under the knife next week so that's almost how long till I'm ready to enjoy it.

Going back to your original question, I'd recommend DW because it is their gun, They might fix it for free If not, THEN find out the availability/turnaround time of the other shops.
Hope your gun gets fixed to your satisfaction.

GW, Dan Wesson asked me some questions when I emailed them and gave me a quote. They have no intentions of doing free work. This was a SSE gun that got in before they ended the loophole. I think this is where the bushing got roughed up. I'm going with NH.
