I was cruising midwayusa looking for a long trigger for a 1911, but i cant find what I want. I want a long trigger that has a rounded surface where you trigger finger contacts, all of miday's look square.... but the short trigger on my 1911 is rounded, and I like that... is there a reason I cant find a rounded long 1911 trigger? Also what is overtravel?

I don't want to sound like a jerk, but if you don't know what "overtravel" is, you will need someone qualified (Gunsmith/Armorer) to install your new 1911 trigger. They are not just drop in.sigpic
One guy walks over to the black rifle area and starts gazing. An employee asked him if he knew what he wanted. The guy answered "Not sure......definitely something black.............and short...............and tactical."

brownells.com has a video fix it section that you can refer to. look up what you want to buy from them, then look up the video at how to do what you want. it's that easy. if you need to modify anything, modify the cheapest part. That way if you screw up, it's easy to replace... also go slow..., if you need to file anything, one or two strokes at a time then fit... that's the way to do things if your a newbie or otherwise...Doug

My explanation is that a longer trigger provides your finger with a greater opportunity to slip off. The squared face mitigates that problem. Also, historically, fewer shooters used the pad of their fingertips.
“Overtravel” is an excuse shooters use to explain poor performance on the firing line.
