Man, you guys are like a pack of wolves around here! All I wanted to know is whether this is normal for this model Sig or not. If you all don't care about how your stuff looks, that's your business. I take a different point of view. This is no big deal, and I expect normal wear from use but this gun is brand new, never been fired and there shouldn't be visible wear from the decock lever.

What kind of clown designs a gun like that anyways?

There are revolver collectors that are turned off by drag marks on the cylinder.

Don't mind the rough comments. Some believe that abuse or hard handed use of equipment is manly. Hence comments like "just shoot the snot out of it" !!

I look at it this way. If you just got back from a real war or battle field, marks and scratches on your gun are battle scars and manly.
However, if your gun has only travelled between home and the local range, in a nice and cushy air conditioned sedan, having dings and dents is only a sign of clumsiness and being ham handed. Nothing there to brag about.

I'm new to this site and I came here hoping to pick up ideas and learn from from people with lots of gun handling experience. To those that responded in a helpful way, I thank you. To those that tried to steer this post into a debate... and simply lecture me on decocker features and gun safety, I don't think you get the point of my post and I'm sure I won't learn much from people like you. I realize in open forums there will always be some that choose to be critical and talk down to new comers. It's too bad because often these kind of people are actually very knowledgeable and much could be learned from them if they could ever get past their macho BS attitude.
So, what have I learned from this post? I think I've learned more about some of the people here than the decocker on my gun.

                  Hello 1CG,

I have lots of rounds through the SP2022 as a Renter.

Just so you know, every SP2022 I've ever rented (and there were many) at the range showed scaring under the DC lever. In fact, I just took delivery of my first USP9 and after putting 250 rounds through it, I can see that it too is scaring the plastic slightly under the path the DC takes until it engages to lower the hammer. I would say, especially on a polymer frame with a DC that moves vertically to expect it as normal functional wear. Enjoy the new SP! It was the second to last gun standing in my final first-time purchase decision next to the P229 Elite Enhanced. Of course, the H&k USP 9mm won the "contract."

You have a good gun. It shoots accurately, eats any ammo and then begs for more. After all, its a Sig. You can tidy-up its performance and overall feel with the SP2022 Hannibal Adjustable Trigger. Its an easy install that I would give a 2 out of 5 difficulty rating (fairly simple). The next step up would be the Sig P229, if you find that you still like Sig after this experience - which I assume you definitely will.

                  Enjoy!

Most here are not what I would call "Macho". I would say direct. You will get straight answers (sometimes sarcasm) but if you ask an honest question you will get an honest answer. No beating around the bush. Think of it as a time saver.

If you look past the "attitude" exhibited by a few, you will see your questions answered in an efficient manner. Maybe it's slight hazing, maybe it's "locker room humor" I'm not sure. I don't view it as "talking down". I see it as sharing strong opinions. But Honest opinions. With technical knowledge to learn from.

I think it is such a "niche" activity, especially in CA, it attracts individuals that are strong minded in general. Independent thinkers.

With all the nonsense that comes with the MSM spin, it takes a strong willed person and independent minded person to sift through all the nonsense.

Firearms enthusiasts more often than not cut to the chase. It's not personal at all. Just know that. Look to separate personal opinions from the technical advice. There are many helpful members here. Often the first to help are those with the strongest opinion and most firsthand knowledge, as they have experienced the issue already, and want to help.

You can never be too safe. There are many who aren't. Even people 30-years deep profess basic safety protocols. As basic as it may seem. Reminders can been seen as respect. Respect for you, respect for the activity, and respect for everyone else.

It's because people care. If not caring, no feedback. People are here to help. 100% safe means 100% safe. It's always a good thing.

True, but the metal lever shouldn't be in contact with the plastic frame. There is space between the two, just not enough. The lever flexes and makes contact when actuated.
