Glock 26 vs 36

All this happened over 100 years ago. Using the thought process of the US military 100 years ago to make decisions about current CCW caliber seems illogical to me.

QFT... that seems logical to me (against the ".45 ACP won so many wars, etc..." arguments) I do love shooting .45 ACP though, hahah. Feels nice because it is big and SLOW.

Oh yeah. No arguments there. I love shooting my 1911. But I think the biggest thing going for it is the legend and the fact that it was the caliber for US service pistols since 1873.

I voted Glock 26. I have these base plates made by Gap Enterprises that I love. They for some reason make the two finger grip with the pinky hanging very comfortable. I did a quick google search and found this article about these base plates http://thinblueflorida.com/?p=2293

I’m not going to go into the whole 9mm vs 45acp debate. Both great options. But also consider the Walther PPS or S&W Shield for thin concealment.

All my 36 mags have the +0 mag extension. Just enough for my pinkie finger to hold on to. No increase in mag capacity but aids in a better grip. Once did the 2-day handgun course at Front Sight with the 36 and I had no problem keeping up with the double stack guys. Plus its a 45acp

I have the same and it is my preferred carry since it is compact, uber reliable, comfortable to carry and very accurate. A great carry piece.

With the size of my hands, a pinky rest is essential for .45, .38, .357, 9mm.

Since the Army did all those autopsies in WW1 and 2 I'm sure the data exists somewhere but I doubt anyone is going to get it because it shows "Cost of Materials over Human Life" and nobody wants that out there. That would be a worse optic than "keeping kids in cages!"

There is a cost benefit analysys on every change the Army makes. That's just part of the process.

You can bet that the "Numbers Guys" have looked at what was acceptable losses of personnel versus types and cost of ammunition fielded. That's how they justify going the lower cost way.

Also it should be noted that the Army is not fielding Hornady Critical Defense Ammo. First: It would be against the Geneva Convention, and second: It would also defeat the purpose of going to 9MM in the first place which is cost.

So we are back to the comparison of 9MM Ball to .45ACP Ball and it is a pretty sure bet .45 is going to win that one.

Everyone wants to compare new bullets to old bullets and say the 9MM is more effective than either .40 or .45.

News flash. the Ammo companies have done the same things to .40 and .45 cal bullets that they have done to 9MM bullets so that arguement goes out the window.

In guns,,, bigger is always better !

I heard they are not fun to shoot, subjective, but didn't sound soft at all. My 30S isn't really fun to shoot either. G26 definitely is fun to shoot, but YMMV.

Between the two, I would prefer the additional capacity of the G26’s double stack magazine vs the single stack G36.

I really enjoyed shooting my G30sf and had I been able to conceal it better, it would be at the top of my list.

Two versions of the Glock 36 are still listed on the Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale.

The Glock Gen 1, 2, 2.5, and 3 are all considered to be on-Roster.

The Glock 36 Gen 2.5 is the non-rail variant.
The Glock 36 Gen 3 is the rail variant.

Currently, the only Glock 36 variants that CA DOJ BOF does not consider to be on-Roster are the Glock 36 that are made in the USA.

Glock 36 non Rail n Rail are both Gen3 n made in Austria
