    92FS vs M9

I'm thinking of purchasing one of these Berettas. Are there any distinct advantages one have over the other? I know that the slide engravings are different (No "Read Instruction Manual" on the M9), the 92FS has a 3 dot sight.....anything else that I should be aware of?

I found both at a LGS for $600; I think that's a reasonable price. I handled them both and rented and shot them. I didn't notice much difference but I did like the sights more on the M9. Are the magazines and parts interchangeable?

I voted for 92fs. I have an Inox version purchased this year, a month back actually. I prefer it because it's made in Italy and the three dot sight. Other than that, you can't go wrong with either.

M9 has steel internal parts, vs the 92fs which I have personally had internal parts break in them.

I voted M9 but I own both and suggest you do the same...

I end up buying the 92FS because of the build quality over the M9

History is made, I agree with Hopeton, well sort of. I'd go with the 92 G-SD or a Brigadier because they too have replaceable front dovetail sights.

I love my M9 and really appreciate target acquisition with the straight 8 sights.

Last I checked, 2A Zone had some amazing pricing on the M9 (92fs sold out). The difference is great enough that it might warrant looking in to:

I have both. I like the straight dust cover on the M9. Also the hammerspring cap is held in place with a standard pin like it should be. I would recommend the 92fs only if you want the Inox model. The 92fs uses a roll pin to hold the hammerspring in place. You will have to punch it out if you want to replace the hammer spring. And you should replace the roll pin with a standard pin like the one that comes on the M9.

Beretta's are Beretta's. The Italian ones are no better than US made ones. I've seen blemishes on both types. In fact its impossible to find a newly made Beretta without a blemish somewhere. They all have plastic controls. Beretta sells cheap guns now, they work just fine but they have a "cheap" feel to them. I upgraded the parts on my Inox.

I just picked up my 92FS and the main reason why I went with it over the M9, mainly because of the sights, I prefer the 3 dot sights. Correct me if Im wrong, the 92FS has a chrome lined barrel over the M9?

Really? I guess I got "lucky" then cause my M9 looks like it is chromelined. Chromelining in a handgun is a gimick anyway. May just be anectodal but my nonchromelined guns always seem more accurate.
