It’s not that one is better than the other. They are just different and the 19x is based on army specs.

Thank You. What is the deal with magazines ? Is the Magazine Spring the same as a glock 17 magazine? I guess the easiest thing to do is just to buy some extra glock 19X magazines.... Since my other magazines will not -work in it.

The issue with the Glock 19X and magazine compatibility is due to the the base plate on the 5th gen Glock 17 magazine.

The 5th gen Glock 17 magazine base plate extends a bit further in front of the magazine. (the change in the magazine base plate was done because of the slightly flared magazine well on the Gen 5 Glocks)

That extra bit prevents the 5th gen Glock 17 magazine from seating into the Glock 19X grip, due to the front of the grip not having a magazine cut out to accomodate the Gen 5 base plate.


Current fixes for resolving the Glock 19X + 5th gen Glock 17 magazine issue:
1. Replacing the base plate of the 5th gen Glock 17 magazine to an earlier Glock gen base plate or an aftermarket base plate that is compatible with the Glock 19X.
2. Dremeling (sanding down) the front of the base plate of the 5th gen Glock 17 magazine.
3. Dremeling (cutting out/down) the front of the Glock 19X grip to create a cut out for the 5th gen Glock 17 magazine.

All of my standard Glock 17 magazines fit in my 19x. The only ones that don’t fit are the gen 5 BASEPLATES. but i don’t plan on getting into a new 17 anytime soon, my gen 2 is running strong.

I have one for the reason stated by nitroxdiver - it balances and points differently. My favorite Glock has been the 19 until the 19X came along - I like the full size frame combined with the balance and feel of the 19.

Oh, and it's brown.
