    Becoming roster exempt?

What is the easiest way for an average joe to become roster exempt? Attend police academy and become a reserve officer? Volunteer firefighter?

Yes this is the best way......

Dealing with Meth heads, drunks and dumb @ss people on a day to day basis is not worth it. If you want to serve your country and help protect others than being roster exempt is just a bonus NOT a reason.

Some run into a burning building most run out. Who are you?

"Attending" a POST certified (is there any other kind?) law enforcement academy isn't like going to charm school.

The community college I work at has such an academy and I do projects for them at times. It's a mentally and physically grueling process and I've seen many fit, intelligent and motivated young people just not able to hack it. I often see the cadets jogging by on their morning PT when I park in the morning ... the group that goes by near the end of the academy class is always smaller (sometimes a lot) than when they first started.

Not to mention it's months long, full-time 5/6 days a week, and takes a fair amount of coin.

I suppose there might be some training one could take so you can assist a local agency by directing traffic during the Saturday farmer's market or escorting McGruff to talk to 3rd graders, but I doubt that would qualify someone as exempt.

Process of becoming a reserve LEO is the same as becoming a full time LEO.

Approximate cost attending a POST Academy and obtaining POST Level 1 is $6000.

Even if you obtain POST Level 1 certification, it is not a guarentee that you will be hired since you still need to go through background check process for employment (interviews, medical, pysch, etc).

POST certification expires after 3 years of not being employed.

Horrible reason to attend an academy...
