        I'm guessing that the original poster wanted more information than just what model it was.

        It's possible they we're hoping to find an estimate of what the family member had paid and what was his "really cheap" costing him.

        Also they might want to know what it's worth today, which I don't know but it's definitely more than $250 , if it's not got a cracked frame.

        Maybe they thought it had a military history because of its look or was probably bought used since it was bought really cheaply and as someone already mentioned a lot of them were turned into Surplus gun sales deals after they did a few years with the German police forces.

        Or how much does that scratch on the slide hurt its value?

        Maybe in some roundabout way they're asking how to make the legal transfer to either keep it or sell it in the marketplace on Calguns.

        All these questions could also apply to the banana but I don't know those answers either.
