    ID this gun?

Anyone know anything about this gun? It was bought by a family member at turners a number of years ago. He says it was really cheap.

    Would appreciate any info!

Walther P-38 I think. I don’t know if there is a P-1 model but as the other poster said uh... that’s what it says on the pistol.

Ugh yeah ok we’re both sort of right. The Walther P-1 s the after war designation of the P-38 but with a few changes. That Walther flag logo I thought was fairly modern ??

It's a P1, the postwar version of the P38. It has an aluminum frame as opposed to the steel frame of the P38. It will shoot good as long as you don't use +P ammo. They were mostly issued to the West German police and army.

I saw one of these at the gun show and it had a price sticker on the slide and it had a hairline crack, the seller tried to conceal the crack with the price sticker

probably from using hot ammo? Ive heard of P38's slides breaking more than usual, remember to change the recoil springs during maintenance.

Got to be a story on the aluminum frame...

The P1 is C&R eligble too - no "on roster" requirement, C&R/COE holder can "take with" same day as FFL sale.

                          Imagine that.
Putting the manufacturer and model right on the side of the pistol.

Next thing you know, they will include the caliber too.

Here's an idea: Go to google search and type in "Walther P1" and see what comes up.

no, that is too much information for the common man to handle.
