Front Sight Paint - Color Preferences?

I used some of my exes orange nail polish on my 642. I put a base coat of white down first and it's held up for a couple of years. Longer than she did, anyway.

Depending on the receptors in your eyes, some colors will stand out more to you than others. You should go to a paint store and look at all of them. My eyes have a hard time seeing red and green, but neon orange is very visible. I use Ameriglo front sights.

Thank you all so much for the info and suggestions. Yeah, red was a mistake. I'll be picking up a few different colors, something along the lines of the bright yellow and white most of you have mentioned.

Anyone try those florescent paint as seen on Youtube (Glow-on)? And how are those removed, Acetone as well?

I've tried the Red and Green Birchwood Casey stuff as well as the phosphorescent stuff sold on e-bay. All of them worked. Of course, the best for night vision was the phosphorescent stuff. It's white with a slight green tint during daylight and glows green at night.

Got the glasses when I was a kid. I did have my eyes checked recently, but that is not what is suddenly causing the issue. The range that I now frequent has very weak lighting compared to the one I was going to before. And that is why I am suddenly having a hard time seeing the front sight on this gun. When I aim the gun at home (yes, unloaded and in a safe direction), I can see the sight perfectly fine.

I am going to be picking up several colors and trying them out. I'm not using this as my home defense gun, so I am not worried about night vision. But perhaps in weaker lighting, phosphorescent might just be the way to go?

Tried a few different colors and decided the orange was best for me.

This looks like a good deal but no white.

White is my # 1 front sight color. Next is black.

Nail polish. Don't like it, acetone or alcohol then try a different color.

Tennis ball yellow works for me.

This, but a day-glo orange worked best for me.

I think fluorescent Orange or Green would be easiest to see, especially the orange. There must be a reason that safety cones and stuff are that color!
(easy to see against many backgrounds)
