Firearms review: Why the Kahr CW9 is now my everyday carry

Yes, I know they are two different sizes, with a substantial difference in price. But these are the two I am looking at and are available to us in CA. I believe the CW9 is about 1/2" longer in both length and height. I would like to get the smaller PM9, but having problems justifying the price difference. The CM would fit the bill, but CA."I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. I've actually been looking into getting a shield but my brother told me about the CW9. From what I can see I can't go wrong with either of them. I'm fairly new to guns. Shot them a few t ones whedn I was younger but didn't own my first til a couple years ago. I had a SIG SP2022 9mm. Great gun, never had a issue. I ended up selling it and now I'm looking to get another hand gun. I would like to get my CCW as well. Is there any benefit of one over the other?AnthonyComment

Cw9 and p9 are the same size.
P9 is the most expensive/better featured one. Even on the kahr website they list the cw variants as their budget version. They include a mim slide catch, only 1 magazine, barrel is conventional rifling, and the slide is stamped instead of machined.
While the cw9 is a value gun, think about magazine prices. They are about $25-30 each. The p9 came with 2 7 round and 1 8 round. If you shop around you may be able to find a p9 on sale like I did, it was cheaper than the shield.Comment

I would take a cw9 over a sheild any day... without hesitation.Comment

I find the difference between the kahr and sheild, to me at least, is the ergos. The sheild has a round grip, the kahr has a nice solid thin squared grip, a very low profile base plate on the mags and only a single take down lever, no other controls. The trigger may be the biggest difference to most, I like the solid long steady pull of the kahr, especially if you are carrying, I have extra confidence in the kahr as far as no concern for a AD when holstering etc. The kahr sits nice and flat against the body and the weight is almost unnoticeable, it's almost like simply carrying a cell phone on your belt. The sheild is a great pistol but when comparing I would always lean towards kahr.Comment

Love mine, carries easily, shoots great, trigger is similar to my LCR which I also carry. Put it in my 11 y.o. daughters hand and she was shooting it well immediately.
My choices were it or a Shield. The Kahr won out; better feeling grip, no mag safety, no pop up LCI, and IMO a better looking gun.
The one downside is mag prices. 29 bucks a piece is the cheapest I found.Comment

I put the metal baseplate on my CW9, I felt the plastic base was too big. I think they did that to aid in magazine removals."To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms, and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them" - Richard Henry Lee
