      thats strange because normally agencies don't care what you carry. most encourage your own because of lawsuits if you plug somebody off duty with a issued weapon.

        H.R. 218 requires that officer's carrying must conform to agency standards. So yeah, your employer has a lot to say about it.

        Many agencies around here have an approved carry list. Even for OD.

        Speaking of civil lawsuits; violating your agency policy even in an OD incident is a great way to screw yourself in the civil lawsuit which will most likely follow.
