I see this term often in the classifieds section. Whether used as a threat or promise to help a sale, to me it doesn't make any sense. My first thought is, where is the gun now? Probably in your safe. So if it doesn't sell, it's going back to where it is now? "No longer going to be for sale" sounds a bit more logical to me.
Kind of like "final price drop". "Final" isn't motivational to me, it only informs me that the price was too high in the first place and you're now listing what you'd actually take to sell it...and even then that doesn't mean it will sell. Market is what the market is.
Then there is the other end of the spectrum where the for sale price is seemingly too low to be real...and once you PM the seller their response indicates that you're "in line"...which most likely means they are filtering for whomever will pay the most. The auction without being an auction approach.
