    "Back to safe"...

I see this term often in the classifieds section. Whether used as a threat or promise to help a sale, to me it doesn't make any sense. My first thought is, where is the gun now? Probably in your safe. So if it doesn't sell, it's going back to where it is now? "No longer going to be for sale" sounds a bit more logical to me.

Kind of like "final price drop". "Final" isn't motivational to me, it only informs me that the price was too high in the first place and you're now listing what you'd actually take to sell it...and even then that doesn't mean it will sell. Market is what the market is.

Then there is the other end of the spectrum where the for sale price is seemingly too low to be real...and once you PM the seller their response indicates that you're "in line"...which most likely means they are filtering for whomever will pay the most. The auction without being an auction approach.

    I have had similar thoughts.

      Meh, I've done it.

I have a price in mind, if I don't get it, it's not worth selling.

Haha I love when people threaten to pull their overpriced stuff off the market. "Uh oh, I better act quickly before it's gone for a few weeks then bumped/re-listed."

on other forums Ive lowered my prices so low, Im almost giving it away, and always take a loss

I wont sell it for nothing, some people want it for nothing, Ive even offered free items if they pay shipping and had some people that are too cheap to pay for shipping.

better to put it back in the safe than sell to a pawn shop or scalper / reseller

sometimes I rather throw it away than accept a low ball offer.

That's exactly my point...where is it sitting while it's for sale? I'm guessing in the safe.

So how does one put it back when it's already there? Kind of like charging a restocking fee for something that hasn't been pulled for shipment...you're not restocking anything at this point, there is no effort or anything to do. You can't put back on the shelf something that has not been removed from the shelf in the first place.

I find humor is off things I guess.

So basically, the "phrasing" is what bothers you. If that gets you through the day I guess.

And a YUGE, "Meh, if you price according to your own emotional value, it's not worth buying."

And ya, it shows a lack of market understanding and wishful thinking.
I actually find comic relief in for sale adds that implode on the seller and they have to rethink their greed.

It's just a phrase that means "I'll take it off the market". A good phrase at that. If you want to be a literalist, English is the wrong language for you.

"Good deal in my book." Sound familiar? Did you actually write it in a book? If so, why? Or perhaps you read it from a book? Which book? I'm so confused.

Shouldn't this thread be in the "Off Topic" forum?

I get so irritated when people post in the wrong forum.....it just doesn't make any sense.....maybe I should make a new thread about it
