The CZ SP01 gets a lot of praise for a few reasons:
    - just like any other CZ they feel great in the hand
    - Being all steel makes it a soft shooter so in turns allows people to shoot better
    - it's affordable
    - aesthetically designed

I personally got the CZ P01 instead. If you don't go with a CZ my vote is Browning High Power

Do not buy the CZ. You're about to go down a slippery slope to an absolute obsession with it. Just buy an ordinary gun, put it in the drawer.

Not if you are objective. I only have one CZ an SP01 and if I ever need quick cash it will be the first to go long before I even consider selling one of my Glocks. I had a 75b fullsize and compact that I sold because I just didnt feel the need to hold on to them. CZs are great value guns but they are by no means as indispensable as a Glock.

One thing to keep in mind if you are considering a CZ vs a Beretta is it will be a lot cheaper and easier to upgrade the trigger on the Beretta. Just change out the hammer spring and maybe install a stainless steel trigger and the Beretta will be extremely smooth. Its cheap and easy to do yourself. No expensive upgrade packages and shipping the gun off to CJW.

I have a Beretta 92fs that I installed a Wilson Combat reduced power hammer spring for about $10 and it greatly improved the trigger. Then I installed a stainless Beretta trigger and that made it even more crisp. It was super easy to do. Just watch a video by Mosin Virus on youtube.

CZ. grip ergo's are king. Ability to replace front sight (isn't M9 fixed?,) trigger can be good or rough out of the box, but breaks in nicely, and the options for upgrading the trigger are awesome.

I love my 2 Beretta 92fs- yes the DA pull is heavy and SA is a long pull of the trigger to get it to fire but something about it just works great for me- I love that gun. Very accurate straight out of the box and as others have said can upgrade the trigger if you want for cheap.

I have never shot a CZ but heard great things about them. I think you need to shoot them both OP before deciding. Good luck!!

If you are ok with M9 (without rail), I would get a regular 75B, it’s lighter than the SP-01.... but still heavy. SP-01 is just too heavy to be considered a practical “all around” 9mm. It’s fine for a range toy though. Take this from someone who has owned 3 SP-01’s.

Yeah its pretty heavy. The PCR or P01 might be better since they have aluminum alloy frames.

The plate that was making the M9 closed and move production to another state cording to California DOJ it makes it a new gun so it's technically not on the roster you would have to find one made at the old factory or find a FFL that doesn't know the different. Could be wrong unless something has changed from old press release. I vote M9

I carried an M9 for years in the military and never liked the trigger, even on pistols that had been broken in with thousands of rounds by a dozen different troops. Ergonomics were decent, but I hated the trigger. I shoot much better with a CZ75, especially in double action mode.

You’re not kidding. I bought an SP-01 for USPSA Production. Now I have three.

I own a grand total of zero Glocks. I guess I’m not objective. But I subjectively much prefer the SP-01 to any Glock I’ve ever shot. It’s not even close.

Shoot both and more...why are you set on those two specifically?

I shot an M9 before and constantly put the safety on whenever I racked the slide, so I didn't really like it.

I have an SP-01 and enjoy shooting it. When you are fully loaded and have a weaponlight on it (which is the point of having a gun with a rail...specifically this gun), it ends up weighing like 5 pounds. It does give the gun better balance, however. Accordingly the recoil is very manageable and quite easy to shoot controlled pairs. For myself, the trigger in DA mode is a bit hard to reach for me, but the "de-cocked" DA trigger position is acceptable.

I can shoot my glock twice as long before arm fatigue kicks in. Not sure why an all steel gun is so important?

I personally am bias to the CZ cause of the design. I recommend a CZ not just because of the brand but because the design makes it an easy pistol to shoot well. This is most due to the low profile slide. Being a smaller slide, it has less reciprocating mass making the recoil pulse lighter than most other guns. There are negatives behind this which training with the firearm can fix, but having less mass in the slide also makes racking the slide a little more difficult compared to other fire arms. But with practice, it really becomes a non issue.

They have a long proven track record for being reliable and the design has been copied more than any other pistol in history. The P-01 passed the NATO test which demonstrates the above and beyond reliability. It is the only NATO certified pistol available to the public.

That is my two cents, but if you look at my sig, you will see I like my CZ, but not just because it is a CZ but because I like their design.

Whatever you choose, choose something that works for you, be it a CZ or a Berretta or anything else out there in the market.
