Sounds to me like the slide is not going back with authority. It seems to not smack the case on the ejector hard enough to get it out of the slide, and not ride far enough back to allow the slide stop to raise into the slide stop notch.

    What maker 1911 is this?

Did you install a "shok buff" to the recoil spring/guide rod? If yes, remove it and try shooting it again. See link below.

I did not install anything or make any changes to my 1911. Currently bone stock. I will definitely look into a recoil spring soon due to the amount of comments mention it in this thread. But for now, Ill will see if its just an ammo issue. If not, then ill start to change parts

Go to Walmart buy couple difference brands of ammo. My 9mm 1911 is picky.

As for the slide not locking back, that happen almost every magazine fired.
              10 or 9 round magazine?

If you're still having issues after trying different ammo, just contact RIA and they'll take care of it for you. Email and describe the problem and they will send you a shipping label.

To be clear, this is a failure to eject. A spent cartridge can be hung up in the breech without necessarily being stuck up much like a stove pipe.
A stove pipe is just one of the appearences or forms in a failure to eject.

10 round Mecgar magazine is what she came with. I have heard nothing but good things about RIA customer service, but sending her in would be the last resort. Want to see if I can figure it myself

is there a difference between a failure to eject and stove pipe jam in terms causes? based on a quick google search is seems causes are identical (recoil spring weight, ejector tension/damaged).

If the inside of your fired brass looks like this, that may be the problem. Smaller space, less powder, which means less recoil. Not enough power to work the action.

Did the gun come with 10 rounds magazines? Or a 9 round? If it came with the 9 round, try that first to see if it has the same issues.

My Springfield 9mm often doesn't lock back on empty magazines, however I'm not sure it's the gun OR if I'm slightly touching the slide lock lever with my finger.

                        Update Oct. 1st
Just came back from the range and can report that out of 250 rounds the stove pipe issue has been resolved by using factory (Federal & remington) 115g and Freedomunitions New 124g. I also used Wilson Combat ETM magazines I just purchased. But out of the 250 rounds, I did experience that my slide did not lock back after firing the last round total of 5 times:
1st time was using Mecgar 10 rounder the pistol came with and 115g federal ammo
2nd time was with Wilson mag using federal 115g
3rd time was with Mecgar freedom 124g
4th time was with Wilson freedom 124g
5th time was with Wilson Remington 115g.

So can happen with a combination of ammo and magazines through the day. Any ideas on how why this is happening? I purchased new mags to hopefully resolve this issue.

When shooting is your thumb close to the slide stop? Check your slide stop to see if it's ok buy removing the slide put stop back in and slowly inserting empty mag to see how much contact the stop has with the mag follower.

                            Hello,

Did Armscor use a .45acp slide lock by mistake?

                            It's been known to happen.

                            Regards,

When it failed to lock back did the follower jump past the slide stop? If so it may have a 45 slide stop installed.

The fact that different ammo made a difference, I still believe that the recoil spring is too heavy.

And it could be. I've just never seen a Rock Island or Armscor with springs that were too strong. They feel a little weak, if anything.
