While I appreciate the fact that you responded, I have to request citations or a description of testing you witnessed first hand please. I realize the frame size thing but P226 mags of course work in P229, so if a 2022 mag worked in a 226 it would likely work in a 229. I also *read* of people interchanging CZ & Sig mags so I am looking for reliable info not Sig claiming you need to buy their $50 mags or you will certainly die due to mag failure.

Latching in the magwell does not mean much, though I can see you appreciate that. They certainly will latch into the grip as the are similar in width with a similar mag catch relief. However anbu is correct they are not interchangeable based on my having both a 229 and SP.

the SP and 229 have different heights and the feed lips end up in the wrong location and will not function. The mag catch is higher on the 229 mag body by 1/4" so the follower and lips end up under the SP's barrel ramp. The follower does not even engage the slide release of the SP.

You would have a pretty bad day and guaranteed to malfunction given 40 is already finicky with perfect feeding mags. No intergoogle BS...its a no go.

Timing sucks perhaps. Sig was blowing out 10 round mags for the SP for 9.99 just recently if you didnt get in on that.

Appreciate the extensive clarification on why the mags won't feed between these different types of models. Also appreciate the lead on mag sales although I missed the mag deals I got some holsters and mag carriers for cheap! It's like Russian roulette over there.

Keep checking over at Sig Sauer store where the .40 SP2022 mags are currently listed at $8.99 (but out of stock). A week or two ago when I noticed the mags were "out of stock" at $9.99, the next day I check again and they had them. It seems they get them in, sell them out, and get more in. However, that's not surprising because as soon as word got out that they were that cheap, I saw postings of guys were buying 4, 5 or 6 at a time. Good luck.

I was lucky that I ran across a sale that Orange County Guns was running and picked up a few 9mm for $24 a piece. So you just have to keep an eye out and they do go on sale.

Love my SP2022 .40. It is my nightstand gun and I trust my life with it. I've had it for about five years so no CA "safety features" on mine. Thousands of rounds through it and only one failure to feed. Flat nosed 165gr round got hung up on the feed ramp. One tap and back in business.
The feed ramp on mine seemed a bit rough so I used some Meguirs Scratch X(automotive scratch remover) on a q-tip and smoothed out the ramp a little. Not polished or anything crazy, just a bit more smooth. Never had an issue since using many different types of ammo.

That's nice but I've used such functions elsewhere before; however my phone's browser doesn't display a lot of functions on Calguns, quoting included, so I roll old school: copy & paste with quotation marks. Didn't expect that to be so offensive to the L33T hanging out here on Calguns.

I'm sort of on the 2022 bandwagon. I had one briefly in .40. i was amazed at how little felt recoil there was, seemed to be less than the full size m&p 9 i had at the time. Easy to shoot accurately too. I traded it away for a px4 9 because it just didn't feel right in my hand, it made small groups and didn't feel like it kicked much at all, just seemed like it was not enough for me to hold on to. I later found that i love the feel of a the baby glocks, go figure. The member i traded with felt that the px4 even with small backstrap was still to big and loves the 2022 to this day years later. Great gun for an amazing price, if it fits the shooter.

That's a possibility, but since Sig's contract with the French runs another 4-5 years, there might be a couple of other possibilities explaining the deep discounts on .40 mags. First, it could be just that sometimes manufacturers find that they've over produced an item and want to clear some inventory. Or, second, my brother has read some recent articles and reviews (which he turned me on to) that indicate that over the past couple few years the luster of the .40 S&W is wearing off. Various reasons are put forth, but the facts seem to show that sales of the caliber have gotten soft. Maybe Sig is thinking about dropping the .40 version or curtailing its production.

This is just speculation, but I really don't think they're dropping the 2022 completely, at least for next 5 years or so. FWIW
