Ruger Mark 1 were made from 1949-1981.
    ^Ruger Mark 1 made from 1949-1966 are considered C&R.

If the Ruger Mark 1 is not a C&R:
    1. You find a CA resident that is selling one.
    2. Both, you and the CA resident meet at a CA FFL dealer to do a PPT. (you will pay $35 PPT fees)
    3. You need a valid FSC or exemption to it and do a 4473/DROS + 10 day wait.

If the Ruger Mark 1 is a C&R:
    1. You find one for sale, anywhere in the USA.
    2. Pay for it and have it shipped to your CA FFL dealer, who then transfers it to you. (you will pay shipping fees, transfer fees, CA use tax, CA DROS fees)
    3. You need a valid FSC or exemption to it and do a 4473/DROS + 10 day wait.
^If you have a valid C&R FFL and valid COE, then you are exempt from the FSC requirement and the 10 day wait.

There are some here often enough, keep your eye on the Market.

            Good Luck.

(Consider a Mark II as well.)

                Where are you located?

Also, put up a WTB ad.

Ouiet is in error. Mfg of the MKI rollmarked as such did not begin until 1951 (there were some rollmarked "MKI Target" in 50-52). By MKI I assume you mean the one with adjustable sights? Otherwise you are looking for a Standard Auto. This distinction went out with the introduction of the MKII which came as MKII standard and MKIItarget models. With the introduction of the MKIII things like mag disconnects and LCI come into play which make the earlier ones more desirable. There is a list of serial numbers on the Ruger website. If you find a C&R one you want get a letter from Ruger as to the actual shipping date as some sat as parts for a long time before they got finished and shipped. As new parts were made they got put on the shelf in front of the ones that were left they didn't rotate the stock.

Although I prefer the MKII don't let a MKIII pass you by. Those are worth picking up too. There are aftermarket parts that can remove the magazine disconnect and the LCI. I like the MKII over the either the I or the III because it has the ability to hold the bolt open on the last shot and does not have the LCI or the magazine disconnect.

Personally I would rather have the MKIV for how easy they made it to field strip. Not that you can just buy in in CA but one can dream...one can dream...

Why do you want a mark one how about a two or three?

There were a couple of MK1 in the market place that were LA/SD based...
