Now that you mention it, it is pretty funny because almost I fit in that statement. I wish my MCO had checking and I actually didn't mind the checkering on my TRP, but I would have preferred 25 LPI to the 20 LPI.

I've owned two TRP Operators both of which I found had overly aggressive checkering in my opinion. The checkering on my Nighthawk was much better. I used to joke with friends that my TRP doubled as a survival saw because it could likely cut through a tree.

Doesn't bother me that my other Springer's don't have checkering. What did bother me was how loose the right side of my thumb safety became after only a few removals. I have an EGW HD single sided safety oscar mike that'll replace the ambi.

I spent some time with one yesterday. I didn't buy it, I'm thinking about it. I was unprepared for the weight of it. It is unbelievably heavy. My strategy has always been no guns that my wife couldn't easily use in an emergency. I'm not sure she could use this gun. I'm going to think about it, and I'm going to get her into the gun store to handle it, get her impression.

The MC operator is a great gun. I started having issues around the 3500 round mark with soft primer strikes and stovepipes. I had a complete spring tune up done on it with a #13 recoil spring I believe and at 1500 rounds after the tuneup it started bank ing soft primer strikes which I attributed to over greasing which got gummed up in the firing pin annular space. Since cleaning it I've put another 900 or so done range, she still runs like a champ...her names "KELLY" and she has just under 6,000 rounds through her.

The MC Operator is probably my favorite gun. There something about it that makes me like it more than my rail-less TRP. I agree that its a bit heavy but it helps absorb the felt recoil. My wife is 5 feet tall and weighs about 80 pounds but she can handle it better than I can at the range. She doesn't normally care for 45acp but she don't mind the MC Operator

I have the PX9110MLP MC Operator that has the factory front checkering and the G10 grips. I have shot my friend's TRP and yeah, the checkering is too aggressive for my liking (as well as my friend, who also agrees with me that the triggers are identical, we can't feel a difference between the MC and TRP). I also think the On-Roster MC OP with the pachmyer is a little too aggresive on the checkering on the grip's front strap. I really love the checkering on mine because it yields an awesome purchase without really knowing it's there, even when the hands are sweaty from the HOT indoor ranges.

The factory G10 grips are great as well with a nice bite into the palm, but I swapped them out for LOK G10 grips in Dirty Olive with the Flared Mag Well Recess already cut. I didn't want to cut up my nice factory Grips, but wanted to keep the same grip styling and cuts. You can see the color difference, the SA Grips are just a bit lighter hue than the OD Frame, but my LOK grips are a tad darker (but I prefer the coloring on the SA grips).

And I'm a terrible shot, I just started practicing fundamentals earlier this year (i've owned pistols, but never took the time to learn HOW to shoot so I didn't have fun shooting them). But this pistol, even being a .45, put a 1.5" group at 25 feet with 10 rounds with cheap Blazer Brass. I freakin' LOVE this pistol. Favorite by far.

What you have is no longer an MC Operator.

Remember what you're holding is an empty pistol. The empty weighs 43 ounces; that's 2.7 pounds. Add about a half a pound to factor in the magazine and 8/9 rounds of .45. If it's for home defense, and you put a light on it, you're in a whole different world than the gun in the showcase.

The VZ Slant grips in dirty olive (https://vzgrips.com/pistol-grips/191...irty-olive-g10) is a close match to the current factory grips.
