CZ-75 Compact and PCR are both good

The steel framed Compact is heavy for a carry gun. The PCR is quite good and a quarter lb lighter.

I have larger sized hand and my buddy had giant ones. Surprisingly we both shoot Shields very well with the 8rnd mags.

        WTB used AK MFER.

          Similar size to RAMI:

          Hammer fired system:
          CZ P-01
          CZ PCR
          Sig P229
          HK P2000
          HK P2000SK
          HK USPc
          Sig P2022

          Striker fired system:
          Glock 19
          XD
          XDsubcompact

The above choices are double stacked platforms and are on CA roster.

The single stack maybe too small for your big hands but here goes:

          Kahr CW9
          Shield
          Sig P6

My hands are small, so I cannot give good recommendations for big hands, but I have a XD40 subcompact, Ruger SR40c, EMP 9mm, & S&W 327 Night Guard (revolver). Surprisingly, the XD40 subcompact is my favorite out of my subcompacts (excluding my compacts), especially at the price range of sub-$500 (pre-tax). I highly recommend the XD subcompact for the price, lightweight (polymer frame), comfort, and it shoots very well.

If you have the money the Springfield EMP is a really nice gun love mine. If you don't want to spend that much the CZ P01 (just got one) I would say is almost as good as my EMP. Also the CZ 75 PCR would work. I will say if you do have bid hands handle them first you might not want a compact for casual shooting.

There are a lot of guns being recommended that are not on the roster so they can only be aquired through PPT or intrafamilial transfer. And they will have a significant markup if they are PPT. Maybe people should note that, when they recommend something that is not on the roster, or just not recommend those models unless the OP specifically asks for "off roster" models? A lot of people still dont no about the roster, they think they can just go down to their LGS and get whatever they want.

In my experience I'd say the opposite.

Yeah i dont think it really matters since they are both still doublestack. The shorter grip on the 26 might make a difference but really depends on the person.

I like the P239 in 9mm. Its high quality, midsize, single stacked, light, reliable and accurate.

You mention big hands. Your experience is with all-metal hammer-fire guns on the CA roster, and you mention an all-metal hammer-fire gun on the roster as an example. Using that as a guideline, I'd echo the recommendations for SIG. P229 is compact, P239 is smaller but not too small for big hands.
If you are okay with plastic frames/striker-fire/off-roster, then prepare for several pages of recommendations starting with mine for a HK (plastic frame) VP9SK (striker-fire and off-roster). Great grip, not too small for big hands, reliable as heck.

Here are my sub/compacts. All are great shooters, the P320 is off roster... If I had to say, the Shield is the slimmest and also the one that took the longest to get used to shooting. All four will have room for your pinky.

^ Handsome collection of compact 9's you've got there!
Settle down, folks. The new "ghost gun" regulations probably don't do what you think they do.

I really like my Glock 43 and previously had an XDS 45. Only downside to both is the limited capacity. Extended mags help but won't get you to 10. They are also both off roster so hard to find and pricey unless you have a generous parent from out of state who gifts one to you. On roster, easy to get, inexpensive and a ergonomically very comfortable is the Shield. I don't care for the stock trigger but its a hard sub compact gun to beat.
