Good pictures, sorry that your sight got damaged. In the realm of gunsmithing mistakes this was a cheep one.
it goes in about 1/3 without removing the base material. then I start using the nylon punch and rubber hammer.

Try putting the sight in a vise and slowly increase the pressure to bend the left side back down.

Thinking human error too. I don't know if it's a better idea but if it went in without too much difficulty, why not slack the screw, and tap it loose with your nylon punch from the inside of the slide?

It's a dovetail - there is no way to see or access the sight from inside the slide. Most Cz front sights are in a dovetail that is cut longitudinally into the slide. The front sight has to be drifted in and out, like a rear sight on many guns.

              Curiosity killed the front sight...

Leave the set screw in the hole next time to support the weak spot

It's already useless, if you try to straighten it and it cracks its still useless.

HAHAHA!!! So it is! That's what I get for skimming the post. And to think I just changed sights on my 75B and 3 Glocks recently. My apologies. Carry on!

Used a heat gun and WD40 on the front sight to drift it in/out of my SP01 without damage. I sold the Tritium to someone and he never had problems with them so I guess I dun gud.

Since this sight design requires the light rod to be removed to access the set screw, the easiest thing at that point is just to use the front tower to tap on, and never tap on the rear tower. But I would be sure it is fitted so it goes in at least 1/3 to 1/2 of the way by hand when installing.

I am currently working on installing sights on my P10c, lesson learned on P07 front sight, I use 1000grit sand paper to fit the base until the sight is half way in.
Another lesson I have learned: both P07 and P10c rear dovetails are directional, right to left out, and left to right in with front sight point forward. Man, this is totally different from Glock sights.
