            I don't know know about in so cal, but I do know that in the southern hemisphere the barrel rifling twists the bullet in the opposite direction

                And ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS verify clear before attempting to take down, since you will have to pull the trigger before removing the slide.

                Unload
                Lock open and verify clear
                Remove live rounds from area
                Re-verify clear
                Drop slide
                Point in safe direction and pull trigger
                "Reverse grip" gun... Place it in the palm of your right hand, thumb under the beavertail, fingers on top of slide.
                "Close" hand and gently squeeze... this will move the slide back 1/8" or so.
                Pull down slide release with left hand, release right hand grip, and slide forward off of frame.

                The bottom of the recoil spring rear retainer plate may sometimes "snag" on the front bulkhead in the frame, but it will pop over with a little gentle persuasion.
