Any glock owners in so cal?

Can anyone tell me what the slide lock pushes against to keep the slide from releasing? Is it the barrel?

It lifts into a notch on the slide itself.

Thanks guys. Socal. Lol. So it looks like the slide lock cannot be pulled down without pulling the slide back because its against the barrel?? (Am I correct?)

So the slide lock cannot be pulled down because it's hanging against a notch on the barrel?

No, it is activated by and rests on the magazine follower when the mag is empty, and engages a notch on the slide. It does not touch the barrel in any way, shape or form.

The slide lock can be pushed down without pulling the slide back. Eat some Wheaties and try again. It is easier to do when the mag is out or the mag has at least one round in it, otherwise you will be fighting the mag spring.

Anyway, that's how they work in Norcal.

Thanks. Someone told me that you can only pull that down while the slide is pulled back a little. So what you're saying is that you can just pull it down and disassemble the glock that way right?

I think you are confusing the slide lock with the slide stop lever.

I'm talking about the 2 things you pull down on each side of the frame

looks like the recoil spring keeps the tension and by pulling the slide back a few millimeters or about a 1/4 in back it allows clearance so the slide lock lever can be pulled down evenly on both sides allowing the slide assembly to move forward and off the receiver, and the bottom notch / lug on the barrel is the area that it contacts to lock in place.

Yea. I'm thinking that the battle and slide lock are pressed against each other. Hence needing to pull the slide back a bit to release the slide forward. Thanks for the help

So, do Glocks work differently in So Cal versus Nor Cal?
