Yes, it's a very durable finish. It's the old Birdsong Black-T finish, before they switched to the more matte version.

I'd like to find someone with a new Professional who wants to trade it for one of my Ed Browns.

I miss having a Pro in the rotation.

        Nice gun.

Have you experienced any parts breakages?

Yes...Wow...Very nice and the finish looks amazing. I see just a smidgen of wear on the muzzle end of the slide, but that's mostly it. It looks practically brand new.

That's insane. It looks more like 2500 rounds than 25k.

I don't believe any are marked "Bureau". Yes, they still make them for the FBI H.R.T but they are identical in every way to the normal civilian model.

Nice! Love my Nowlin barreled Pro more than the in house Springfield barreled one!

Its gorgeous I only wish SA would keep to this finish instead of changing it.

In the old days when Springfield Custom was a true custom shop, they built me several custom 1911's. I can't remember if it was my Custom Carry, or one of the Colts they built for me, but it was sent to Birdsong, and I talked to Walt on the phone at his house for quite some time about a project. I was sad when he passed. Mr. Birdsong was a real gentleman.

Is Dave Williams still running Springfield Custom? I think we spent more time talking about fast Fords than guns.

He is still running the Springfield Custom Shop. I spoke to him not long ago.

My older Pro with the Birdsong finish was a nicer gun than my newer pro with the in house finish. Just my opinion.
