The Liberator? I'd say that was built around the 45 ACP as was the Smith 25.

As noted above, the 1911 was designed for the .45 acp. Remember the 1908 and earlier versions? Theew was an earlier .45 caliber, with dual swigning links, designed for a 200 grain bullet. This version occasionally still pops up.

There are some people that it's just not worth engaging.

It's a muzzle BRAKE, not a muzzle break. Or is your muzzle tired?

The 1911 was originally a .45 ACP, Colt didn't chamber it for .38 super until later in the pistols life.

The Cougar was designed around .40S&W; and later offered in 9x19, .357Sig, and .45ACP.

A large number of modern pistols designed around 9mm have cousin pistols that are scaled up for .45

                    to add to the list
the glock 36 is glock's only single stacker (that I know of) and designed around .45ACP
According to this CDC document the firearms related death rate has been surpassed by the poisoning death rate.

if you want heavy, single action only: 1911

if you want light, SAO: many light weight 1911 frames exist.

if you want heady-ish, DA/SA: CZ or SW.

if you want light and DAO: Glock.

if you want light and DAO, but too cool for Glocks, XDs.

if you want heavy and DAO for some reason, hang a 5-lb weight from your Glock.
i dont own one so im not sure, but i thought the XD was single action only?

Kinda sorta not really. Both Glock and Xd use a trigger that acts in essence as a DAO but with a lighter pull weight than a traditional DAO firearm.

Where's the Sig P220... arguably better than the options you gave for the last four categories.

I really loved it's trigger, pleasure to shoot. What I didn't like was its high profile.
