Tmh1.... how can you possibly give a review of something you never even tried? Other than holding 1 less round than my Wilson mags, I can't tell any difference in comparison to the factory mags. As for the current gear up program if you read website it only pertains to xd models.

My man! Thanks for the compliment. Especially coming from you. I love your avatar and name.

I still feel stupid for "steal." Love the puns in the thread tho.

Well, I didn't really "give a review" on the OEM mags, I just said I didn't like them. They just for some reason seemed a bit on the cheesy side to me, and it is nothing but one opinion.

And regarding the Gear Up promotion, I guess that I was thrown by the language on the SA web site, which specifies

            "Purchase ANYFebruary 1 - August 31, 2017 and receive:

            4 EXTRA MAGAZINES
            DOUBLE MAG POUCH
            RIGHT HAND HOLSTER

            FREE!

Totally worth it. The fit and finish isn't perfect, but it's the best 9mm 1911 available new in CA, short of building one or having a race gun.

If you are on a budget, the Rock Island 38 super is easily converted to 9mm. It is a great gun for under $600, series 70 smooth trigger, no ILS, and have the option of a unique caliber if that's appealing. It has its own pros and cons.

I have both the Springfield Stainless target and a Rock Island Tac II, and have spent a few months shooting a Dan Wesson PM9. The only thing everyone complains about with the Springfield is the stock 2 piece full length guide rod, which requires a tool and it's an added cost ($35-$50) to replace it. The ILS isn't that big an issue unless you are really working the trigger.

9mm 1911's are a blast, easy to shoot, easy to control and manipulate. The ammo is a damn sight cheaper than 45. I say buy it.

I vote to get something different. There are MANY different 9mm semi-auto handguns that are worth your time and money, more so than what Springfield deserves after their attempt to out do Bill Ruger.

My SA Loaded 9mm is about to be let out of CA jail house this week. They are hard to find in my area, once they hit the shelf they are sold. Very few can be found used, no body will part with them. From what I have learned, Springfield still makes them in small runs just for CA. I have neck problems and shooting my 45s is painful to say the least, and being a die hard 1911 shooter, this may be my last choice to still be able to enjoy the wonderful 1911. Go for it.

Congrats- I went shooting with a fellow CGer today and we shot the piss out of it. He had a bunch of 1911s but couldn't put my Loaded Target down.

The comments were related to Springfield, neither Colt nor Ruger have anything to do with Springfield's bending over backwards.

I picked one up used from the forum, it was modified, and functions perfect. I liked it so much I just bought a brand new one for comparison. Now I have the joy of shooting the snot out of the used one, knowing the brand new one is there in case anything goes wrong.

$1000 otd is probably not the best deal around, but if you like it buy it! They are a hoot!
