There really is no comparison between the Classic line Sigs and the SP2022. Sig introduced the SP2022 as an entry level-ish gun to their line up because they saw a need for something less expensive than the Classic line. The firing systems are different, obviously the frames are different, the slides are substantially different.

Overall, it is a gun that was manufactured to compete with the Glocks, XD's, M&P's, etc. IMO, they did a pretty good job of it and the gun is a solid platform. I have literally have sold an ton (or more) of them with very few concerns about function and performance. The bottom line is everyone is different in their likes and dislikes of a firearm's ergonomics.

OP, I think the suggestions of manipulating your grip on the pistol a bit are worthy of experimenting with. The trigger will get a little better as you wear it in some more but it will never be like the Sig Classic line triggers. There are some gunsmiths out there who do work on the SP2022 trigger groups.
The satisfaction of a job well done is to be the one who has done it

No wonder. That is about as bottom of the line as Sig makes. Sigs (excluding their 191s) have terrible to crappy triggers. This one ads the super cheap feel of a Kmart plastic gun on top of a crappy trigger.
You are not the only one who was less than impressed. Get a used CZ or 1911 for the same price and do not look back.

Very pleased with my twentytwentytwo. Shoots straight and soft, and most of my friends also like shooting it.

[QUOTE= That plus the fact that the a/c at the range was out and they didn't have the JHP ammo I always get from there, I left the range disappointed, irritated, and sweaty. [/QUOTE]

Was that range located in Santee? Sounds familiar!

Somewhat similar boat as the OP but maybe not as bad.

I've had my 2022 for about 2 years now and while I like it, I'm not in love with it. I really should have just put up the extra cash for a USP or a 92fs because I absolutely love shooting both of those.

As for the trigger on the 2022, I'm not a fan at all. After 300+ rounds it has improved but not to the point of calling it crisp. I would love a 686 trigger to be fitted to the 2022 but that's not happening anytime soon.

I've debated with the idea of selling mine but I think the most I'd get is 400 with the extra mags so I think I'll just keep it.

I have a SP2022, it's a nice pistol, but probably ranks near the bottom of my pistols are far as fun & reliable

It's hard to fully appreciate anything until you have spent a good amount of time getting to know it.

My local shop is currently offering 10% off SIG, and it's tempting to grab one at $449 new (especially with all the sad listings for used ones at the same price). But I'm already into September with DROS on a couple layaway purchases. Plus I have to add tax. Then I wonder how much I'll shoot the SP2022 when I have other Classic P-series SIGs in the safe. Considering the other guns I want, it's money I could put toward, say, a P220 or HK P2000SK V2, or CZ 97B or 2075 RAMI...
Yet I STILL think of doing it.
Honestly I don't think it will happen.
