    Got my first Sig

I picked up a Sig 238 last week and got it out to the range on Saturday. ran 50 Winchester FMJ's and 50 Factory reman's and a few Hornady Critical defense through it and it never once gave me any problems. As i expected. I realized due to the heavy trigger pull I was flinching a little and pulling my shots down. Once I got that sorted i was able to put all 7 shots in the 10 ring at 7 yards. I was shooting point-of-body-mass at 25yds. Which I know is improbable that I will need to shoot that far with this little gun, but it's nice to know I can if I ever need to.
Carries nicely in my pocket holster and I'm looking to get an IWB for it soon.
I'll throw up pics soon. I'm away from my phone.

Good gun easily one of my favorites.

Yes, they're awesome little guns. Sticky hilsters work well for it.

That seems to be a fairly unusual "first" Sig.

I get the feeling most people start their Sig journeys on the 22[0/6/9] square

Congrats on a great gun. An unassuming gateway gun to the wonderful world of SIG. The P238 was my first new SIG (second after my LEO buddy's used P320). The P238 is a fun gun to shoot, even compared to all the great range guns in the world. Being a yuge 1911 fan, I am also thrilled with the P238's layout.
I don't necessarily agree with @Clairvaux about the P238 being an unusual first SIG. I will say that the classic P-series guns (as noted in Clairvaux' post) will someday find their way into your collection, and you will absolutely not regret it when it happens! Sorry, my SIG fanboy megaphone is out again...
          Enjoy the ride!
BTW, you may already have a favorite holster maker. FWIW, I really like my Vedder Light Tuck Kydex for IWB carry.

I agree most people get the 'Larger' Sigs first. But I was looking for something I can Conceal carry around the house since there has been some incidents in my area. I also want to get my CCW and my RIA 1911 is not something I want to lug around, and my M&P 22 is, in my opinion, not a suitable option for personal defense.
I rented one at ASP and loved it. Found one at a great price at Riflegear and bought it. Now I have something I can carry around the house and can answer the door without freaking out the occasional solar panel salesman or the pizza guy.
Since the operation is similar to my 1911 there wasn't much to adjust for configuring the gun.
I fish and camp alot and wanted something I could carry when permitted to do so by law.
I like to be prepared for the reasonable worse scenario and always hope for the best.

Yeah I'm pretty obsessed already. I'm trying to make time for the Mrs. and I to take it to the range and have her try it out. I'm concerned if she ever needed to use any of my firearms when I'm not home she is only comfortable with the 22. which could deter a threat but if she's forced to fire it won't due much good. So I figure if I get her out on the 238 I can 1. have a gun she's comfortable using 2. buy a second one for her

All of the above makes perfect sense, at least it does at the moment.

You may find that it will make less sense to you *tomorrow* and you want more Sigs for EACH of those purposes.

BTW I find it useful to freak out the solar salesmen.

Glad you found that fits the bill. Is P239 in the future for HD? P226/P229 for range toys?

Make sure she'd be comfortable carrying cocked-n-locked?

Yeah I'll have to get to that. She's still at beginner levels when it comes to firearms. She's not against them just still a healthy respect for them and a little timid(which if you knew her she's usually anything but timid) So she needs more time around my guns specifically and get use to the operation. I'm hoping she can make time for a Ladies instructional day someday soon. She just started her own business so she's pretty swamped as it is.

funny side story the 3rd time i ever took shooting she soundly whooped my *** 3 times in a row using a Beretta 92 while i was on a 1911 shooting my friends competition tree. She loved that gun.

With the high prices of most SIGs,

I might have to start using your tactics lol

My Black Lab spooks most of them, the most lethal thing about him is he might lick someone to death. He's pretty relaxed when someone's home. He will bark at the Clarks guy when he's spraying the house and he's barked at me when I locked myself out and I tried to break in cause I didn't want to wait for my wife. Good dog.
