My biggest beef with the Shield 45 is that it's not on the roster...
Les Baer 1911: Premier II w/1.5" Guarantee, Blued, No FCS, Combat Rear, F/O Front, Checkered MSH & SA Professional Double Diamond Grips
Springfield Armory XD-45 4" Service Model
Springfield Armory XD9 4" Service Model (wifes).

Not weird at all. Your feed ramp causes the non-round nose ammo to snag a bit, which slows down the slide as it comes forward. That causes to failure to chamber.

Shoot it for a while and things may iron themselves out; otherwise, you may need some ramp work done.

Should have known better than to buy a shield.

My .45 shield functions flawlessly with all rounds.

Manually cycling a new pistol with live ammo instead of shooting it seems, well, meaningless and silly...

              Shoot the damn thing already...

I always start with hot fmj and move to defense rounds after a few boxes have successfully been shot through a new acquisition.

Clean and repeat until you have confirmed it's dependability.

Are you riding the slide back into battery, or are you slingshotting it?

If you're doing 1, stop that and do 2.

Edit: pointed in a safe direction and with your finger outside the trigger guard, of course.

I do believe S&W even states a break in period (200-500) but I could be wrong

OTOH, you wouldn't argue guns and ammo with the freakin' S.A.S, would you?

So finally took this thing out today, ran fine, then I loaded up a few mags with some HP I had, it ate them too. Put about 100 regular fmj rounds thru it first. Thing has quite the recoil!! Took this, subcompact XD 40, P238 and my 9 shield, sure love the grip on this one.

My shield 40 was the same way. It took about 100 rounds to get it sorted but now it eats everything. When i first took it out, any limp wristing would cause a jam, and the last two rounds in the mag would jam every now and then. I do love it though, enough that i picked one up in 9mm when i heard about the rebate.
Norman Thomas said this in a 1944 speech:
"The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of "liberalism," they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened." He went on to say: "I no longer need to run as a Presidential Candidate for the Socialist Party. The Democratic Party has adopted our platform."
