P226 compatibility question

I have gone up (.40S&W) in caliber with a German P226 9mm, no problems whatsoever. I have experimented and used a standard factory 9mm barrel in .40 SIG slide and there were no issues with it. YMMV

I would not do that consistently though. The extractor position for the 0.40 vs 9mm won't be in the same position. There is also difference in the bolt face of the 9mm vs the 0.40 "upper"

I would either do the Barsto or the X-Change kit. If you want this to be a HD weapon personally I would do the Xchange kit because from what I've heard the Barsto option can be a little bit of a lottery.

Between the wait time (6-8 weeks) of a new barrel and the cost (~$225) It's not much more to get the whole genuine Sig kit, which has the slide, new sights and spring and guide rod.

I'd probably leave it stock as a .40 for any kind of HD use.

Just wanted to update everyone that the U.S. 9mm slides WILL fit the older German made P226 frames. The SIG guy I spoke with earlier confirmed to me that if it had a U.S. Slide originally, it should fit both German and U.S. Frames.

I was able to borrow a 9mm slide and I ran around 100 rounds without any issues on my .40 frame.
