I hear the gaps on the sides of the hood are not actually bad to have... Now the hood length... and shape... I expected better.

As for the sides of the hood. My current understanding is that you want the barrel to be in full lockup with the slide. At least at 10 and 2 o'clock but preferably along the entire surface of the locking lug. Then you want the bottom lug to be evenly sitting on the slide stop pin at the same time as the barrel is fully locked up into the slide.

If you had the sides of the hood also be tight, and something would cause them to force the barrel to tilt... well you get it.

This is just my current understanding. I may be wrong here.

The CCS guns are stamped on the frame under the grips and the trigger guard.

I just read there are 2 versions of the M45A1. The CCS version that sells for $2400 and the non CCS priced at $1600. The one I had my hands on is the non CCS as I was informed how much he bought it for.

If anyone in CALGUNS have the CCS version please chime in and give us the skinny.

Yes no light except for the radiused corners of the hood. A bullseye gun fitted so tight requires 500 rounds to break in. Slide stops with adjustable pin size would make fitting easier.

How many rounds have you put though it. I have the same model, I've only put around 900 rounds though mine. I have not put my trigger gauge on it, but compared to my other 1911s that I have I'd say she is right around 5 from the factory, maybe a hair less. Decent for a factory series 80 gun, have not detail stripped yet only modifications I've done is replace the MSH and add a magwel.
But she seems about normal build quality for a $1500 1911. Should add, mine feeds and ejects HP's and handloads without a problem.

I did find this interesting though, as if the gun did not already have enough serial numbers and bar codes on the exterior.

I'm hoping for pics of the notching modofication. Now I wanna go look at my 1911s and see the hood fit. I didn't know to look at that before.

I think I have an extractor problem on my trophy match. It throws empties clear but when I rack the slide, just casually, round doesn't come clear. Vigorously it does. Not trying to hijack, just saying that now I'm gonna go try this slide off holding the round under the extractor test. I have a new one somewhere I can fit up

Unfortunately the M245a1 is not mine. I was asked to remedy the wiggly ambi safety, ended up doing a complete detail strip to see her goods and what can be done. I did check how it feeds hollow points out of the box, although no failure the polishing makes feeding smoother. I was surprised how the sear looked like. The trigger bow had a sharp edge that probably happened during production. That was remedied by beveling and polishing which is part of trigger job.

I did see that frame marking inside the MSH channel. I should've taken a picture and compared it to yours.

I agree but I really don't want to turn any of my thread into 1911 vs ? childish posts. I had to put someone in ignore mode (Nuyen) as I've been offended by his non firearm related posts. Big Pimpin is a gentleman if asked properly to honor the hood rules and territory.

Standard 1911s will not have a tight fitting barrel hood. This feature is usually seen on custom 1911s and models sporting the "Match" marking. Having a tightly fitted barrel is not conducive to reliable feeding of a wide variety of ammunition. I scratch my head when I see a Les Baer on the range being fed remanufactured ammo.

I'll take pics on the next notching job or let me look which one of my 1911s I can take a pic of.

You mean a live round doesn't clear the slide? Does the nose of the bullet hit the front edge of the ejection port? If so, ejection port and not extractor problem, IMHO.

And the slide stop notch, I believe, is a Log Man slide stop mod.
