Yes she is! I wish I jumped on a USMC roll marked one. The ion bond finish on the gun is great.

Out of the box the extractor is tuned.

Breach face looked good as the bottom edge of it had a pretty good bevel.

Trigger was heavy and a bit gritty. The sear looked like it was grounded with a roughing bit.

        TBC...

That's what I'd like to do, notch the slide stop on my 1911.

Holy crap..That sear looks rough..It doesn't even look like a secondary angle is cut. Hammer hook engagement? Wow

The barrel fit is pretty good. Not gonna give a Les Baer a run for tight fit, but hey the gun is meant to operate. The sides of barrel hood have a minor hint of wiggle, but the hood length is a bit off.

Is it it the space between the barrel and the slide that you are showing here when you say the hood is short?

Yes. The hood is not cut squared and a bit short.

I have a CCS model with a gray frame and it's the only 1911 I own now. I'd like another factory one with the ion bond finish though.

                          Glad I can contribute.

The barrel has a throating job done From the factory but wasn't polished. It looked like a 320 grit finish and I was afraid there may be some machine marks hidden by the finish.

Upon initial polishing this is what came up. Machine marks hidden by the matte medium finish.

So I had to clean it up by hand using 320 grit to remove the marks and fine wet to get the surface smooth. I polished it with my trusty Dremel with a polishing tip. I forgot to take a pic of the final polish, but this pic was the initial polish after the machine marks was cleaned up. I was looking for any machine marks I may have missed.

With the polishing on this part of the barrel, how much material can be removed before you get in trouble?

With the gun assembled the barrel showed no movement and seems to lock up tight. The bushing is fitted snugly in the slide and the barrel has no movement at full battery position. The barrel feet sits square on the slide stop pin. At full battery position there is no downward movement when barrel hood is pushed down. The bore is typical Colt quality and I'm willing to bet the gun is capable with very good accuracy even with the hood cut like that. Like I mentioned it's no Les Baer fit, but it's no rattle trap.
