I've had both , sold both in a weak moment , if I get the chance to buy another 9mm.... BHP for sure (don't like the 10rd mags) but that's what we got for now...maybe a LW Commander..........oh crap...now I want both...Semper Fi.Comment

I would go with the HP. It's an extremely well balanced piece, not to mention a very elegant work of art.Comment

Honestly 1911. A really accurate 9mm is probably one of the most pleasant guns available to shoot. Gotta go semi custom though to get a really accurate 1911 in 9mm I'm but it'll be worth it. I've shot Kimber and SA versions before and past 50 years they weren't accurate anymore.
Bhp is no slouch but I just find the 1911 extremely pleasant to shoot in 9mm.Comment

The Hi-Power as we know it here was actually in Belgium the FN GP - Grande Puissance (same but in French)
Used to shoot it pretty often since I carried one !WTB : Bren Ten - WTB : Wildey 45 & 475 MagnumComment

I bought a Israeli POlice trade in , and to my surprise got a T Series. Its not shot out but it looks like its had its fair share of actionComment

I have owned both.
You should base you decision after answering a few questions.
If you plan to leave it stock --BHP
If you plan a lot of mods, 1911.
Think of it this way, 1911 are like Chevys, everyone make parts and know how to fix them.
A BHP is more like Mopar, much more limited in parts, always more expensive for the same part as a 1911.?The constitutional right to bear arms in public for self-defense is not a ?second-class right,? subject to an entirely different body of rules than the other Bill of Rights guarantees.? ?.. I had both. At the same time.
I had a 1911 in 9mm on more than one occasion.
My answer is NEITHER.
BHP has that weird beavertail (or lack thereof) and I always got a hammer bite. Its stock trigger is also not very good, especially with that mag disconnect. It is beautiful to look at though. But to me, it is not a volume shooter, unless it gets modified. But when it does get modified, then its beauty kind of fades...
A 1911 in 9mm felt a bit excessive. As the OP said, too much metal to launch a 9mm. Fun to shoot, ummm, yes, perhaps, but kind of weird... To me, a 1911 is perfect for .45 ACP and .45 ACP is perfect for 1911. A 1911 in 9mm is neat, but its glory fades quickly. It just does not feel "right" to me...One Way to Post Pics ********** How to Submit an iTrader Rating That Counts ********** Brass for Sale

I know it's not a 1911 or bhp, it the CZ-75 SAO is pretty nice. I put hogue wrap around grips on it and it fits like a glove (for me).
Just another. Ice steel 9mm single action option.==================

Remember to dial 1 before 911.
Forget about stopping power. If you can't hit it, you can't stop it.
