If I lived in a free state....BHP. But I am funny in that I do not like having a hi-cap gun and have to use 10rd mags.

To me it is like having a non-functioning hood scoop on a vehicle.

Got my BHP 35 years ago. Never been pinched yet. Also it is still on my EDC rotation.

The only thing I hate about taking out my HiPower is the fear of scratching up that beautiful beautiful blued finish.

i held a BHP once, absolutely love how the grip fits my hand, instantly became my dream gun, but the moment i squeeze the trigger.... sweet lord, this is garbage.

I've owned both at the same time and sold both of them.

Hard to choose which one. It's like choosing the lesser of two evils.

HI Power: trigger is bad. Has magazine disconnect. Grip is short and fat. I've never been bitten, but some people do. 7yds and in, I'm shooting off fly testicles. Strangely, beyond that distance, my groups opened up.

1911 in 9mm: trigger is fantastic. I don't like the grip safety and and the slide safety. Grip is short. Do not enjoy field stripping because avoiding the idiot scratch was stressful. Accuracy and precision were consistent for short and long distance.

Twist my arm, I guess I would choose the BHP.

                BHP

Had 1911s for 25 years then realized the Hi-power was best crappy trigger and all

when i first bought my HP i took a few hits with the hammer, even drew some blood once or twice - considered changing to a Commander Style no bite hammer, but, i learned to hold it a slightly lower and it's been fine ever since

NEVER got bit to the degree that i didn't want to shoot it though

The 1911 is one of my favorite pistol platforms but I've never enjoyed it chambered in anything other than .45 ACP. Every 9mm 1911 I've encountered was finicky with ammo at best and just plain unreliable at worst.

Get the Browning Hi-Power. You won't regret it.

I've never had the pleasure of shooting a BHP, and I know it's also one of Mr. Browning's iconic designs.

Thoughts and suggestions welcome, particularly from those who have owned and shot both.
For me two things make 1911 superior. The single stack grip feels better and the difference between the triggers is like night and day.
