So you weren't one of the 300+ guys who picked up a Shield from RifleGear when they were on sale there for $359? Unfortunately, the sale ended a week or so ago, and they're back up to their regular price of $409 now.

Contact Calgunner Baboosh. He's a vendor here, and he has the Shield for $389.99, and he's throwing in a free extra 8-round magazine while supplies last.

I just committed to buy a lightly used Shield w/Meprolight night sights (an $80 value) for $360 on a PPT, with no tax.

There's another one for $330 PPT in the Marketplace.....So. OC

And now 2 more for $350, PPT.....Huntington Beach, OC and Poway, SD

I just started the dros with Baboosh yesterday on a Shield, this will be my second one. Both Jamie and Sandra are a pleasure to deal with.

            Or
It could be that they over produced a bit expecting Hillary to take the election which would have resulted in yet another gun buying surge.
Now they are discounting just to clear out inventory.
(Note: once the price of a new product goes down, it is really hard to raise that price back up again).

Smith has gone to the next generation of the M&P pistols, the M2.0, seems that they would do that to the Shield, too.

Do you think the current CA on-roster Shields may be discontinued soon?

I know that Smith said they would make them the exact same way to comply with CA law as long as they can.
But with the rest of the country eligible to buy a "M2.0" Shield, and with a competitive marketplace, will Smith just move on with a newer model for the rest of the country?
A newer model that will not be on the CA Roster?
Another way to look at it, SW is slowly swirling the toilet bowl. Ever since they went public, I get the distinct impression that meeting quarterly sales goals is their one and only objective. Get them now, because I feel they are going the way of the Freedom Group and things are just going to get worse and worse.

Post 14 provides the annual report assessment that 3D quarter sales and orders were down. The rebates bridge FY 2017 and 2018 to boost sales. http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...2&postcount=14

Trump's election took the wind out of sales.

They made a CA version just for Californians, I imagine they would keep producing that one just for us

Unless a CCW is an option in your area, I see no reason to own one.

How did the California version end up with that awful loaded chamber indicator? My biggest gripe with the on-roster version.

Because it was released in 2012.

It was a mandatory item to make it on the roster at the time. If I get one it will be one of my first deletes with a part from apex.

I've been thinking of getting one as my "answer the door" gun, something to quickly stuff into my pocket before checking to see who rang the door bell. Or my "working/reloading in the garage during summer" gun, something to keep in the pocket and out of sight while I'm doing stuff in the garage with the garage door open.

That is a standard response to buying any gun in cali: Buy it while you can.....

It's unlikely our situation is going to improve....most likely we'll have less choices as time goes on
