there is a grease used in aircraft that can do that. I got a tube. If you're interested, PM me and I'll let you know what it is. I don't know the name as I sit here. It is in my garage. I use it on barrel nuts to keep from freezing up and it doesn't damage aluminum. I've had the same tube for a couple years. It came cracked and I still have tons left. If you're in San Diego, swing by and we'll lube the crap out of that revolver. I think if you look at it every year, it will be fine for 4-5 years. Good stuff Maynard.

I agree. Many of the name brand gun lubes are repackaged bulk oil. Hoppes is straight mineral oil for example.

Break Free Collector.
I live near the ocean, and have used it for several years now, with no rusting on any of my old arms. I do wipe them down with an oiled rag, and run a boresnake with it applied, at least once a year.
I tried BF Collector oil when it first came out about 20 years ago. It actually caused rust. My blued guns that had that stuff applied showed signs of rust, while my blued guns that had regular BF CLP did not show signs of rust.

ZCORRIs there a lubricant that doesn't coagulate & get gummy if applied to the inside of a handgun that isn't used for 4 or 5 years, maybe more? I recently looked at a few handguns I've not used (or ever used) for a few years and the innards have gummed up a bit. I don't recall what I used, I know it wasn't WD 40. But it was most likely "Remoil" or something else fairly simple.
Any suggestions? Other than "shoot the damn things once in a while".
I strip all lube from the firearm with 91% medical grade alcohol, let dry and pack them away.
I have some stored that way for over 6 years. No rust or gummed up residues.Comment

By: DIY_guy We all want to use goods quality products on our guns, bows, fishing gear, knives, autos, hunting and lake front gear and like you I?m not a fan of letting things get rust on them nor am I a fan of items wearing out prematurely. To protect my investment in gear, I began
take that study with a grain of salt. But hornady one shot is a dry lube that beat out the competition for rust prevention.
Note, the test is done in extreme conditions so you might be fine with other options.Comment

0W-20 for regular shooting with full railed frames. I use white lithium grease with guns that have tabs for rails.Last edited by JTROKS; 05-13-2017, 11:49 AM.The wise man said just find your place
