CZ 75 -- which one ??

So ... I intend to get a full size CZ 75. That is if I can find one in stock.

I am considering the 75B, but have also noticed the SP-01.

I definitely want the steel frame, but I am otherwise unsure which model would be the best for me, or if they would both essentially be the same.

I do not mind spending a it more money on one model over the other. Frankly, they all seem pretty reasonably priced to me. Especially since I was originally planning on getting a 9mm 1911 and they are quite a bit more expensive.

I will not be competing at all. Just target shooting at the range.

Whichever model I purchase, I am considering sending it off to Cajun Gun Works for their pro package and the hi-viz front sight. But I know CGW has a long wait time.

So ... Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions for me?

Just for strictly target shooting I'd look at the 75B SA or the TS.

The SP-01 is a great gun for range, Target and HD.

Bought the SP-01, sent it to CGW for the pro package, barrel bushing and new sights, and never looked back. Also bought a PCR later that remains stock except for night sights from CZ customs. Both good pistols.

You need to handle both and see which you like better. There are subtle differences between the two. I want an SP01 but my 75B feels really good in my smaller hands.

I prefer the more classic look and got a 75B SAO. The SP01 was heavier. In watching long term comments of people who have both, they usually start of with the 75B, then buy a SP01 only to realize the 75B was just fine. But like them both anyway. The 75B is heavy to begin with, mine is 37oz unloaded with a mag and rubber grips. Almost 1911 country. What sold me to the 75B SAO over the TS was 50% less cost and (in my mind) 90% of the goodness. The ambi safety price point also won it over a 9mm 1911 for me. Get what gives you grins.

That said, getting the 75B made me realize I really needed a Browning Hi Power too. So there is a hidden cost!

The only difference in the feel of the grip as far as I can tell is just the soft rubber vs. the hard plastic grips. The front and rear checkering contributes to very little difference to me.

The beavertail shape makes a much bigger difference between the 75B DA/SA and the SP-01, but the 75B SAO has the same beavertail as the SP-01.

Then there is the larger safety levers and the slide lock on the SP-01...

This thread of Tok36's is full of info (though he uses a CZ85 for comparison which is almost identical to the CZ75 except for its ambidextrous slide lock)

Well Dave you have both and I have only the 75B , but I love it and the Kadet 22 upper. So far I do not want any other " modern" pistols.

CZ 75 SA...There's nothing quite like the consistency of shooting a single action...it's one of the best out of the box triggers that has a firing pin interrupt...the SA can fill the whole spectrum of home defense to target to competition shooting

love my cz 75 spo1. Great shooter, easy to clean breaks in well.

I put VZ grips on it that are a little aggressive but they feel good.
