    Star model B problem

Shooting my Star Modelo B 9mm for the first time and had a weird issue. Bullet fires but doesn't eject because the slide doesn't come back. When trying to pull it by hand it is stuck with the hammer at half cock. It cannot be racked until the hammer has been pulled back and released to uncocked position. Then the empty ejects and the next round gets chambered. I bought this a couple of years back and honestly can't remember where I bought it so it's my problem to solve. Ideas???

Is it 9mm, or 9mm Largo? What ammo?
There are some people that it's just not worth engaging.

It's a muzzle BRAKE, not a muzzle break. Or is your muzzle tired?

I have no experience with these but when I was in the market for one I saved this little information as reference.

"SAFETY & OPERATIONS NOTE: The Soviet process at this time relied on interchangability of all parts. So, when these guns were being repaired, refinished maybe, or even cleaned en masse, they would all be disassembled and the parts mixed. Handguns particularly tend to have fitted parts, such as the sear/trigger interface. These guns may well have very poor (or dangerously light) triggers as a result. The interaction of the safety lever on single action pistols such as these is also dependent on individual fitting of the hammer to the safety. Most of these pistols seem to not allow application of the safety when cocked. Instead, the user must pull back the hammer slightly, and jiggle things. This is not the original way it was intended to operate, and in my opinion is an inherently unsafe thing. At the least, since it discourages use of the safety. If you will shoot this gun much, please get it to a gunsmith to get that part fitted.

      AND...

Made from 1946 to the end of classic-model production in 1983, model Bs with Super upgrades were produced. The major change is the replacement of the swinging link with a Sig 210 (or modern Star) style closed cam path integral to the barrel. Related to this, a full-length guide rod with captive spring, and a quick takedown lever were added as well. All of these models have a magazine safety, but one slightly different from the later S variants, and the extractor is modified to double as a loaded-chamber indicator. Additionally, the sights are improved in shape to make them easier to see, and minor changes were made to the trigger system.
I see your swartz is as big as mine, now let's see how well you handle it

Interesting info. Maybe the safety is engaging as the first round shoots. I see a disassembly and careful reassembly in my immediate future.

Ok I field stripped and put everything back together cleaned and lubricated. Tried again - same issue. Clearly something more afoot than I thought. Great pity as its accurate and feels great when I shoot it. Any ideas anyone?

My computer crashed and I lost all of my bookmarks. There is a Spanish firearms subforum on a really popular forum but I can't remember which one.

Try searching for it. There are people there that live for Astra, Star, Ruby and Llama Firearms. I'm sure someone there can help you.

            Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

First, you need to know the year of production. Use this link to find the year of production for yours. http://star-firearms.com/firearms/proof.shtml

The reason for that is you need to know if it is one that was likely a Russian take back after the war. If it was, then as 81Degrees noted, the Russians disassembled all of the Star Bs they took back, put all the parts in separate piles, and then just randomly grabbed parts to reassembled. They ignored the fact that these guns were hand fitted.

Sometimes they worked and sometimes they did not. So if you have a Russian take-back, you should take it to a gunsmith to have it looked over.

You also might get more help if you posted in the C&R forum.
Anyone can look around and see the damage to the state and country inflicted by bad politicians.

A vote is clearly much more dangerous than a gun.

Why advocate restrictions on one right (voting) without comparable restrictions on another (self defense) (or, why not say 'Be a U.S. citizen' as the requirement for CCW)?
