    .45 Defensive ammo

So I just bought a XD .45 and need some help on what to use for defensive ammo. I have been using a .40 cal SD pistol with Winchester Ranger ammo as my go to. I haven't really read up on anything, and google is just to massive of a info dump.
Any help or articles etc would be appreciated.

One thing I do have to worry about is over penetration. I live in a Condo and cant be shooting through 8 walls.
None of my posts are serious or real, nothing I post is legal advice.

Re overpenetration, anything with sufficient penetration for defensive use will be an overpenetration risk for interior walls. You can control this somewhat with fast, light bullets (that's why AR's have replaced a lot of subguns for doorkicker use) but you should give some thought to directions of fire as they relate to probable defensive use. For example, if you expect to barricade yourself in the bedroom and call the police in the event of a break in, your most likely direction of fire is out the bedroom door - a bookcase full of books against the wall in the hallway will help reduce the energy of projectiles that make it into your neighbor's unit.

There's also Glaser Safety Slugs and other specialty ammo, but it's expensive and the performance isn't there compared to something like the HST or another top of the line defensive round.

I'm a little stubborn in my ways, I still use the Federal Hydra-Shok 230g. My 1911 eats it up so I haven't switched for a decade.
Buy made in USA whenever possible.

Go to the lucky gunner test table and then buy Federal HST.

                    +Infinity...

HST's get the nod in my carry guns.

My .45 shield and G43 both eat they like candy.

I shoot my carried rounds and then replace them with fresh ones at least once a month at the range.

Never had an issue one them...
