Hey everybody, I've been toying with selling my P220. I hardly ever shoot it and there are a few new prospects I have been considering. I have owned this West German Hawes Import since 1999, it was made in 1977. I'm curious if there is a market for these older P220's or should I just keep it? Here's a couple pics.

looks like a goodun. however in my experience the European heel mag release sigs don't sell all that great. it's a nice specimen and I almost always advocate for keeping and saving. if you don't think you'll shoot it again though no point in keeping it either. just don't expect to get much in my estimation. unless that has some value I'm not aware of anyway.Just a libertarian guy in a Leftist Authoritarian state.

There will always be a market for those W. German Siggys personally I'd hold on to it thoughsigpicOriginally posted by gun toting monkeyboyYou did ask. They were only following your instructions. Next time be a bit more careful in how you phrase your posts. If you give people a straight line like that, this is about the level of response you are bound to get. Just be glad you didn't post "Date this rifle"... Those pictures are usually very disturbing.

When I went away from DA/SA guns I sold my 1990 bought P220 and my 1993 bought P229. I wish I still had them, still would not shoot them often but they were excellent handguns. So guess I'm saying don't sell it.Im a warmonger baby, I got blood in my eyes and I'm looking at you.Comment

Assuming it is in 45acp. Back then, I believe they were available in 38 Super.

In 1993 I bought a P220 W. German new. In 1995, I bought a P229 .40 S&W. I kept the P229. In fact, when I shot the course required for my Concealed Handgun License in Texas while living there in 1999, I used my trusty P229. Unfortunately, sometime in around 1996-7, I sold my W. German P220. It did not take long for me to regret doing that.
Now, a couple days after I bought my P220 in 1993 my best friend (he still is) had to have one, too. So, we went to the same dealer and he purchased one just a few serial numbers off mine. He's never been a real gun guy and never really appreciated the .45 ACP, especially in an alloy frame. He fired no more than a couple hundred rounds out of it.
Fast forward to around 2003-4. He was looking for a few bucks for something he wanted to buy and asked me if I wanted to buy a shotgun he had. I said no, but I would take the P220 off his hands. Like I said, he never appreciated it, and jumped at the idea. So, I ended up with a very close brother of my old P220. It's a beauty in perfect condition, just the way it was when I drove him to the gun dealer back in 1993 to buy it, with box and target in perfect condition, too. It's one of my guns I will die owning, it was just luck that I was able to correct my big mistake by replacing my original P220 with almost the exact same pistol.
I would not let a W. German P220 go . . . period.
Good luck.Last edited by Denver Dick; 03-29-2017, 7:58 PM.sigpicComment
